Yeah, he mentions that one at the end of the video, along with the SeaTac guy from a couple years ago.

In 1974, a GI stole a Huey from Ft Meade and landed on the White House south lawn. Spoiler: Shots were fired, but he survived.
What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

My memory on this is getting fuzzy so I was trying to get in touch with an old buddy on FB, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. I was stationed at El Toro, and my squadron flew the A-4M - VMA-311 Tomcats. Since it was July when this occurred, we were at the base when it had happened or had just left for WESTPAC-I just can't remember now.
I remember when I heard it, it was the CRAZIEST thing I had ever heard, especially since Foote successfully taxied, took off, maneuvered and landed successfully all just from experience in a simulator.
Even after hearing he was a private pilot, it was just crazy since he never had any time in a jet trainer. Yep, this incident caused quite the stir. All during our deployment, Foote jokes and references abounded.
When we came back to El Toro from WESTPAC in December of that year, we left our A-4s in Iwakuni. We traded birds and equpment with our sister squadron VMA-214 Blacksheep(Pappy Boyington's old squadron)and took over their birds. Because we did, one of the birds was the Lance Corporal Foote A-4M, which became a small celebrity in our squadron.
I knew guys who knew Foote personally, but I don't remember anything other than he wasn't able to become a pilot which led him to 'prove' himself.
