I saw a Harley today, with training wheels
Doing 30 m.p.h. in a 40 m.p.h. zone.
A four wheeled motorcycle with a female on the back seat.

And the quietest exhaust
On
A Harley , ever!

I didn't know that they made training wheels
For big bikes.

Yes, probably a Voyager kit or like. Keeps back wheel as drive so it’s not a trike. When my Ménière’s disease caused bad vertigo (thankfully that has passed) I put one on an Electraglide for a few years. Never really liked the way it rode and eventually took it off and back to two wheels.

There is also a kit that replaces the front wheel with two wheels side by side. Totally fugly but it’s said it’s more like a two wheeler and can lean. Not sure why they’re called.

Like this?

I want to say I've seen something like this, and something that was 2 larger wheels aside the rear wheel, making it 3 across

Voyager kit and such are three wheels across at rear. Never seen what you posted. Looks like a wheeled kickstand, guess it’s useful for the “flying sofa” especially at traffic lights.

Yeah, it was the Voyager kit, or something similar, that I've seen before.

I can't imagine trying to corner a motorcycle with those training wheels? Seems like it'd just topple over unless you just crepted along. Or do they lift up once moving?

Harleys with stock exhausts sound great.

They don’t lean like on two wheels. They might tip a little when cornering fast (one wheel might come up a bit, but not much). Rides like a trike, similar to a sidecar as well. Like I said earlier I did not like it as compared to two wheels and when the vertigo subsided I took it off.

But they are stable and won’t tip over.

Seen it all now..wow. Big Grin

I would suggest a lighter motorcycle with better brakes. MSF basic + experienced if MSF offers the 2nd course anymore. And at least 1 trackday. The rider could learn more in one trackday than training wheels could teach them in years.

Prefontaine, I’m almost completely certain you don’t mean this, that way - but I doubt anyone has those, at least on an electraglide etc due to a lack of experience.

Same reason why I carry a 22 revolver on “bad” days.

Age is a MF, and being stuck in a high mileage chassis gets old.

(Going to a banya yesterday was great. Needing help to stabilize getting out of the pool, was not.)

The one I followed for 4 miles had much larger
wheels than that ,
Maybe 4 or 5 inches shorter than the o.e.m. wheels.
And it had very nice fenders.

Those add-on wheel kits are just a cheaper and simpler option to convert a two-wheeler into a "trike" (yes, I realize it's not technicality a trike but it functions and handles like one). They are much easier to re-convert back into a standard bike when selling so they have that advantage too.

The Wing in that picture is using a platform designed to help people who have trouble keeping the bike upright due to age or injury. Know a guy that created Leg-Up Landing Gear, selling those kits, pretty expensive stuff but the wheels auto retract and drop based on a speed sensor.

Plenty of kits out there for HD bikes from three wheel bolt on conversions to full on custom 4 wheel kits. Lot of people on these have health issues some just prefer the wind but more wheels.

If the bike can't lean just buy a sports car.

H-D sells more Trikes than anything else, these geezers couldn't get in or out of most modern sports cars.

About 6% if HD sales are 3 wheelers.

Mostly to old geasers in North America.

I was thinking of getting one at one time but I never pulled the lever.

Agreed. Might as well just drive a convertible. The whole point of the bike is the lean. I've put over 800 miles on the F650GS since I bought it 3 weeks ago, mostly just on county roads within 30-45 minutes of my house. I live in Indiana farm country, so there's a lot of straight and flat, but we've also got lakes and there's a little more topographical deviation around those. My MO has become to just ride until I get to somewhere I haven't been before, then watch for "curve ahead" signs at intersections and then go that way. When it's time to go home, I just pick a cardinal direction and head that way until I hit a main road that I'm familiar with.

It's been an absolute blast. I've found a bunch of great roads, hills, and lakes that I didn't even know existed. Leaning and counter-balancing through the turns has gotta be as close to what flying an airplane can feel like while you're still on the ground. Especially when you match your speed, gears, and line perfectly and sail through it without slowing down. It's a rush, even at the speed limit. If you only ride slow and upright on the straight flat stuff you don't get that, though, and the bike is just a more dangerous and inconvenient car.

Precisely, which describes my signature Smile. If I'm not going to be able to enjoy the thrill of leaning through curves on 2 wheels I'll buy a sports car. It'll be fun but not nearly as fun as a motorcycle, however it'll have a roof to put up or sunroof, seat back, heat, and AC.

ridewv said it above. Buy a sportscar then, and get one with a slushbox. Or buy one of those Can Am 3 wheel things. A motorcycle leans over to turn. Dangerous when it cannot. I have to dodge gravel, deal with tar snakes, loose animals, etc. There are occasions where I’m leaned way over in a turn and to avoid something I have to lean it even more, similar to doing my trackdays, to avoid whatever it is. When I’m too old to ride, it’s time for another vehicle.

I owned a Honda 550 for years and rode it a lot.
Faring,hard bags,cruise control, highway pegs,windshield.

I thought eventually not scrape the pegs on turns.
But two or three times a year,
