Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
2015 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3L 4wd Had the wheel off to swap the starter figured I would check out the components in there while I had the wheel off. I am presuming this is WAY to much play? There was zero resistance and this was with my left hand. It was smooth and made no real noise but took nothing to move it. Should I just replace the inner and outer tie rod while I am in there? Is anyone making them in the United States anymore? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Perfectly normal. They are supposed to rotate like that. To check a tie rod for play, grasp the tire at 9:00 and 3:00 and shake. A helper to do this would be helpful. If the ball stud moves from side to side in relation to the socket, that would be bad.

Glad to hear that. Just seemed like a lot of movement with little effort. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Yup, that is pivot not play. Normal motion.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
That radial movement is necessary so that there is no binding during the up and down movement of the suspension. Behind that rubber boot, holding the grease in and dirt out is a ball and socket type joint. If you pushed directly up and down and it moved, that's not normal. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.
