After a bag got ripped in half by an airline years ago, I put a bag strap on mine. It's a different color to the bag and makes the bag easy to see, as well as grab, even when it's buried under other bags. When TSA or other agency doesn't zip it up properly, when they're done screwing around in the bag, the strap keeps it from flopping open. If the bag gets torn, because eht strap goes around the bag in two different directions, everything stays together.
