Totally cannot stand the guy.

But, this outrage is manufactured. We have a nail place in the local mall. I never noticed before, but I think the only people who work there are Vietnamese.
Comics make fun of people, regardless the race, color or creed. Some of them talk about all the gas stations that arabs or indians run.

If we cannot laugh at ourselves as individuals or groups, we are too uptight.

My take is that it's the In Thing to be offended/outraged by something.

Doesn't matter what, just so long as you're outraged and go public with it like all the cool kids are doing.

In other words, it's horseshit.

There are Koreans in the nail salon business?

So it looks like Maher found himself in deep Kimchi.

Can I say that? Have I offended anyone?

It's one thing for the left to eat their own - which I generally applaud - but they're out to destroy all comedy unless it's critical of conservatives.

For this reason, many won't do college venues any more, Jerry Seinfeld, who is no conservative, is one of them. I wish George Carlin were still with us to put it in perspective as only he could.

That's funny, my dry cleaners are Vietnamese.

And not hard on the eyes.

More manufactured outrage.

Stereotypes are funny because of the large element of truth in them.

Maher can be a jerk. But he doesn't deserve the crap he's getting. He's a comedian, for goodness sake.

Truth is, would any of us know what he was saying if someone wasn't putting it under our noses?

I love to see the liberals get eaten by their own. It's fun to watch them have to comply with the rules they set for everyone else.

The nice thing about comedy today is that if you offend someone, it was probably damn funny to the rest of us.

Mayer displayed more stereotyping ignorance then disrespect.
In the 1970s the Vietnamese "Boat People" were being settled in the US. At that time a trip to the nail salon could run $50. A wife of one of the commanders that that training women in the field would help them be employed. That's the reason the Vietnamese dominate the nail business.
Maher can't tell the difference between Koreans and Vietnamese. Sort of "They all look alike."

I see. Well, I wasn't aware of any of this. Never made the connection and wouldn't have cared if I had. No one should be ashamed of their own industry. You come here and work? Start your own business? Then, I say welcome to America.

I can't stand Maher, but I too can't see what the big deal is regarding the joke.

There hasn't been any outrage of the Asian nail salons depicted in "Better Call Saul," "Orange Is the New Black," and dozens of other movies/shows. So I don't see why the sudden outrage over yet another bad joke from Maher.

That's what makes the whole thing such an entertaining exercise in PC. Everybody knows Maher's a liberal. And anyone can see it's just a badly fumbled attempt to be funny. But the liberals still erupted into a veritable volcano of organic bunny farts over it.
