My shed has got some algae/mildew/whatever buildup on it that I'd like to get rid of. Nothing too bad and mostly at the bottom of the exterior walls. (Shed is painted and paint is intact.)

What kind of soap/cleanser should I use to get rid of it? I'm figuring a stiff bristle broom will do the job.

I don't have a power washer, so that's out of the question. Not a big shed and not a large job, so doesn't warrant investing in tools.

Try "wet n forget"
Just spray it on and natural weather process will take care of it. I used it for moss build up on the roof on the north side that does not get sun.

Watching as I’m getting ready to repaint my shed and have the same stuff on mine.

Was thinking about simple green ???

where you can see the mildew, is actually the dead colony, its thriving elsewhere

Jomaps M1 Housewash. Apply with a pump sprayer, wait 10 minutes and wash off with a garden hose or powerwasher.
Makes things look like new.

Wet and forget and similar products work well. Used them on my roof, various things around the yard and even a truck. But know going in that it's very slow.

As said, Wet and Forget works well. Krud Kutter also is good.

if you have vinegar, beach and water on hand. Maybe mix some together and wipe or spray and wash off. Should do the job nicely with out extra cost.

Mixing bleach and vinegar is a bad idea. When you mix these two substances, toxic chlorine gas is released, which essentially serves as a way to wage chemical warfare on one's self. Many people mix bleach and vinegar knowing it's dangerous, but either underestimate the risk or else hope for increased cleaning power.

If Dirt and Mildew together, use JomMax House cleaner wash. If just Mildew without dirt, use Wet-N-Forget. I use both with great efficacy. Neither require a pressure washer. If you follow the directions a bucket, garden sprayer, and a garden hose with a spray gun nozzle, is all you need. Those products are amazing. Esp. the JoMax.

Wet and Forget is OK. I had to use several applications and it took months. It is slowly getting rid of the mildew/mold on my front door.

I used outdoor bleach (5% sodium hypochlorite) mixed 1:2 with water. Used a garden sprayer, let sit 5 minutes and hosed it off.

Worked great. Cost ~$4.

Dont use around shrubs.

Like mentioned above... 5% bleach (as fresh as possible, water and a surfactant like dawn or simple green. Apply with pump up sprayer from the bottom working up to the top (to avoid streaking), then rinse.

The surfactant is important to allow the bleach solution to coat and lift the dead organic matter.

Mixing ratio? I'd start with maybe a cup of bleach to a gallon or two of water and an oz. Or so of soap.

Wet any grass or plant life beforehand to somewhat protect from the solution.

Make sure the soap you plan on using doesn't contain any ammonia.

I use M1 house wash, Home Depot sells it. You mix it with bleach and water, spray on, then rinse, preferably with a pressure washer. It works very well.

Bleach and water…dunno the solution. But that’s what I did with my north side of the house in NC….2gal sprayer about 1/2 gal of bleach rest water, let it sit for about half an hour, then I rinsed it off with garden hose. One spot had more green so I did it again.

Kept the stuff off the plants by hiding them first with water and hosing them every few minutes where overspray might have got them. Mrs. Mikes roses were fine.

I saw a pro house cleaner use orange bottles from lowes. They were hypochlorite (bleach) and 500 gal of water to clean houses and I just copied what he did.

I’ve never heard of wet &forget. But it’s probably very similar

My dad had moss growing on his roof. He got some zinc powder from the paint company and he sprinkled it all over the roof on that side. The zinc killed the moss and it was simple. He hooked up a 20’ piece of 3/4 pvc to a air hose with duct tape and dad put about a cup in at a time and just blew it on the peak and side of the roof. He never even got on a ladder.
