I just pulled the trigger on a 72V 2,000w hub kit. Big Grin

Its going to be interesting to see how this kit compares to my other two builds.

The blue ebike that I recently built is impressive.

I tested it the past two days to see how much the range would be reduced if I hardly pedal to assist. I basically rode the bike around like a dirt bike at 15-25 mph and managed a respectable 3 hours of usage and 51 mile range with very minimal pedaling.

I have not been able to test it on flat land or long stretches of flat road because I live in a very hilly area. I believe the range should improve dramatically in flat areas.

The range can be extended at least 30 miles by pedaling along with the motor but I bet the max range could be a lot more depending on riding conditions.

On flat land once you pedal the bike up to about 15 mph if you add throttle you can get the bike to cruise along at 17 mph sipping a minuscule 100-130W to maintain speed. Unfortunately I am only able to do this for a short time before running into a hill that boosts the wattage usage up to 500-700w+ to maintain 17 mph.

There is a neat park in Chesapeake Virginia that goes along old route 17 and follows parallel to the intercostal waterway. I took my other ebike to that park and had a blast. It is the perfect place for a maximum range test.

With the new 9 speed cassette with one more gear up and one more down it will have a higher top speed pedaling. This will allow me to assist the motor by being able to pedal along with it at faster speeds which should boost range quite a bit.

I am really excited to see how this 72V 2000w 27.5 hub motor performs. For now I need to figure out a battery location and type and decide which bike I am going to put this thing into. Big Grin

42T chain ring installed! I still need to install the 9 speed cassette which I will do when I tear it apart to convert the tire to tubeless to match the front.

The 42T narrow wide chain ring alone should add a bit of top end speed over the 38T narrow wide chain ring it replaced.

Now time for a test ride. Big Grin
