SigM4HK to stop selling firearms to Israel
Didn't see this discussed anywhere yet, if so I apologize for the duplicate.
Linkquote:
Heckler & Koch, the German weapons manufacturer whose guns are estimated to have killed more than 2 million people since the company was founded in 1949, has quietly adopted the most ethical sales policy of any gunmaker in the world.
The company has pledged no longer to sell arms into warzones or to countries that violate corruption and democracy standards, including Saudi Arabia, Israel, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, or any African countries.
Though never officially announced, the new strategy was included in Heckler & Koch’s latest yearly financial report, and confirmed at an annual general meeting in August. A spokesman said that the firm had “withdrawn from the crisis regions of this world”.
…
Heckler & Koch – sometimes called Germany’s deadliest company by activists – said it would now sell only to “green countries,” which it defined according to three criteria: membership of Nato or “Nato-equivalent” (Japan, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand); Transparency International’s corruption perceptions index; and the Economist Intelligence Unit’s democracy index.
Following some of the links in the article appears to be a legitimate move by HK; which is disappointing to see.

BBMWIsrael is pretty self sufficient in their small arms production.
And, from a business standpoint HK doesn't seem to be particularly well run. This just add to it. I don't see them being around too much longer. The entire German small arms industry doesn't seem to healthy at the moment.

thundersonHysterical. If you go to Africa you should know how to break down an AK, FAL, CETME, and a G3.
HK will just ship to buyers elsewhere and elsewhere will ship where they want.
I'm sure Israel is sweating this news.

Yeah, sorry about that. The quoted piece was from the Guardian, as such there was opinion in there along with the factual stuff.

911BossHmmm, I have no problem with a company deciding who or who not to do business with. Their business, their decision, even if bad for business.
Kinda like the baker and the gay cake.
I’d be interested to hear someone who believes a baker, photographer, etc. should have the right to refuse service to a gay weddding explain why this is “wrong”. Just a reminder, I believe baker, etc.
should be able to refuse such service,
What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Probably a WAG, ie, a wild arse guess. But what is more important, to present correct information, or to be politically correct?

Why not really put your money where your mouth is? If you're not going to sell in "warzones," why sell to the military at all? They fight wars, ya know.
And as far as "democracy standards," I hear America is filled with racist cops...Better not sell there, either.

I've given up trying to make sense of HK's business model.

Ouija board?
2 million people killed by guns since 1949? That is 3 years after WW2 ended.

redleg2/9Who'd a thunk it? HK killed more than the '03 Springfield and the M1 Grand combined?
From the figures I can find, the German Army and Waffen SS lost most of their men on the Eastern Front:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...ties_in_World_War_II .
If they can just toss out figures and expect them to be accepted - I will use the same method.
