My daughter spent the summer working in the town she attends college. She came back home for a few days before the next semester starts. We hit up a couple local festivals, the Spam museum and a few other things. The thing that stands out the most was working on her car. We dropped it off for an alignment and was told a brake caliper was seized, recommended new calipers, pads and rotors @ ~$850... The next morning, I went to the local auto parts store and picked up all that was needed for about $260, thinking that I’d be doing this alone except when it came to bleeding the brakes. Much to my surprise, my daughter came out while I was doing the driver side, observed and asked a lot of questions. When it came to the passenger side, she wanted to do it. Other than the final torque settings on a couple bolts and the bleeding of the brakes, she did the passenger side. We buttoned it up in about 2 ½ hours. She was happy, saved a ton of cash and learned something new. I was happy she was here and that we were able to do it together. Oh – and I found a new to me way to get stuck rotors off without using a BFH… Picked up some grade 8 bolts, a few washers and a couple nuts. Used them to put pressure on the rotor through the holes the caliper bracket was mounted to. Popped them off really easy.

Your daughter sounds like a winner! I'd like to know what she is majoring in at school? She sounds as though she has an inquisitive mind and a mechanical aptitude! Don _______________________ Living the Dream... One Day at a Time.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
It's been fun watching her learn and grow over the years. Her interests are all over the board from art to tractors (she's got her eye on Grandpa's John Deere BO). She's pursuing a Masters in Architecture (2 years left). Next spring she's planning on studying abroad for a semester with her class. She'll get to see several places in person that they've discussed in class. Of course, I've been teasing her about taking me with
