So, what’s the best commercial store bought waffle mix,or the very best recipe to make your own mix? Someone told me they like to add Malted Milk to the mix. .

Gene, everything on Serious Eats is so good. For 2022 waffle iron reviews, search their site for : “ We Tested 12 Waffle Makers—Here Are Our Favorite Models” For crispy waffle recipes, look for recipes that have some cornstarch and some malted milk powder in them. Beaten egg whites folded into the batter makes for light and crisp too. I think Krusteaz mix is too sweet. It makes pretty nice waffles, but too sweet for my taste. If you hit on a recipe you really like you can cook the entire recipe, freeze them, then heat for a few minutes in the oven.

I'm chasing a Waring Commercial - looking for used. But may consider new (very hefty price tag though). Commercial w/ replaceable plates would be ideal. Watching CL daily - there are some listed but not a bargain priced and a bit of a drive away. Hoping for something close, in good condition and reasonably priced. Keeping an eye out on garage sales as well. Something like this: https://www.waringcommercialpr...h-serviceable-plates I'm sure some patience will yield a good outcome here. Cuisinart Round Flip Belgian Waffle Maker $59.95 There's a double that's available if need be. The higher-priced ones I can only tell that they're more food-service built: heavier hinges, springs, larger base...which means it takes up real estate in your kitchen (or wife's kitchen ) when its not being used. I'd go with the Cuisinart, as they have more experience with electronics, whereas All Clad's background is in pots/pans, their electronics are simply sourcing a factory, putting in the right circuits and slapping their badge on. I'd caveat that with, I have an All-Clad slow cooker that finally shit-the-bed after nearly 15-years of use. In the end, either brand you should be fine.

That Cuisinart flip job corsair cites takes up too much counter space and alternatively is bulky to store for use here. My inexpensive 2004 waffle maker acquisition recently bit the dust and after a lot of research for a modest replacement, the Cuisinart WAF-200 Belgian Waffle iron has risen to the top of my list. It also sells for $59.95 from Amazon, WalMart, etc. Haven't pulled the trigger yet though. We've had a Waring Pro for several years and love This mix.

Cuisinart and Waring looked very similar. It seems that both are actually owned by Coniar. Perhaps cuisinart is more of a consumer line while waring is a more commercial line. I’ll take a look at cuisinart again but lots of reviews indicated issues with fragility. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Same one I've got. But it definitely wasn't $200+ years ago when we got it. Train how you intend to Fight Remember - Training is not sparring. Sparring is not fighting. Fighting is not combat.

Here’s the recipe my wife and I have been using for a couple years. 1 cup of oats 1 cup of all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon pinch of nutmeg 3 tablespoons of brown sugar 1 1/2 cups of buttermilk 2 large eggs 1/2 stick of unsalted butter (melted) Optional: 2 bananas diced This recipe makes 2 waffles. We usually halve it and split one waffle, and do not add the banana. Our waffle maker is a Cuisinart This is a good recipe. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Fellows, please don’t use mix. It saves almost no time, and waffles from scratch are much better.

Thank you Very little |
You guys must eat a ton of waffles LOL Couple of things that seem important, regulation of cooking temps for different levels of brownification, removable cooking plates for cleaning, reversable or replaceable plates to make other items like sandwich or omelets. Googlefu'd reviews Food and Wine has a good review of 17 different units. They have a list of the top units and reviews on the others that didn't make the top 7 but they also show the reviews of the other 10 models. Link

Problem w/ many reviews (whose purpose is really click counts) is that they don't really account for reliability and safety and other (important to me) considerations. Reviews are typically based on making a few waffles in one day - superficial at best. It's curious why some of the other well known makes/models aren't on the list. Their criteria is not necessarily the same as my criteria. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it."
