My "furry girlfriend" has crossed the Rainbow Bridge
So sorry. I understand what you are saying. Years ago I helped my friend take her dog to the vet, it was to say the least very bad news and only two of us came home from that visit.

My friend was devastated, I stayed with her for a few hours, until she told me she wanted to be alone and go to bed.

I left, went home and cried like a baby! I always like the dog, I just didn't know HOW MUCH until after that day.

Sorry and condolences to you and your friend. Godspeed Lacy.

So sorry. The loss of a pet is devastating. Prayers for you and all. I miss all my pets that have passed every single day.

Sorry for your and the owners loss. Losing family is devastating. We are both blessed and cursed with dogs; blessed with the happiness they bring us with their unconditional love and cursed with the knowledge that our time with them is extremely finite compared to our own longevity.

Thank you all for the kind words. I’m reminded of a passage from ‘A Tribute to the Dog’, written by George Vest; “He is as constant in his love as the Sun is in it’s journey through the Heavens.”

We love dachshunds and presently have one - Ollie.

Of the 6 dachshunds we’ve had, 5 were rescues and 1 was from a breeder. All lived from 13-17 years so 11 for your friend, and you as well, is too early.

Rest assured our prior 5 dachshunds will welcome Lacey in the meadows at the start to the rainbow bridge while they wait for us to cross together.

Many of us understand the grief that goes with losing a furry friend. I've lost two of them in the last 2 years, and there will be another. Why do we keep repeating the cycle? Because they more than make up for it in the love and happiness that they give while they're with us. My deep sympathy goes out to both you and to your friend.
