I upgraded my Surface 3 Pro from Windows 8.1 to 10 not long ago (free upgrade), works well but still a brick! Older systems just run slower. JMO

Have you been using this machine and just considering upgrading the OS to W10, or has it been sitting in a Laptop Case for a while and you figured you could put it to use? Also, you indicated earlier you kept the old 'Network Password'...I assume that the machine is part of a Domain, correct?

Regardless, I'd check the Dell Support Site and put in the 'Service Tag' to confirm the original hardware configuration and Windows License. I believe this may be a pre-Win 10 machine, but if purchased late in the lifecycle, it 'could' have a W10 License downgraded to W7.

Will this support Windows programs like QuickBooks?

Very quick search, the Enterprise version of QuickBooks will run in Linux Servers, some appear to have figured out how to run it in the desktop with the help of a Windows emulator.

Do you need Windows 10?

Installing an SSD and running Linux Mint will be a much better experience and breath new life into that machine.

Based on the service tag, it is a Windows 7 machine.

Yes, it was part of a domain? So I logon using the last password, but I do not connect it to the domain.
