With our 2020 spring break trip canceled because that was when everything shut down for COVID, and no plans for summer, my family decided to keep it simple and we drove to Western NC for a late summer getaway. We used Watershed Cabins, which I had used before, back in my mountain biking days and we had a great family trip. It was so great in fact that we decided to head back to the mountains for Thanksgiving and SigForum turned me onto Blue Sky Cabin Rentals. They had an awesome selection and we stayed near Elijay. Here is the cabin; https://www.blueskycabinrental...sp?PageDataID=159113 Now we want to go to Helen, GA (general area) for the waterfalls for spring break. The Helen area will just be base camp. Each day we will pick a waterfall or two, drive to that area, hike to the falls, come back to the cabin and relax. The touristy part of Helen does not matter to me, I just need to be in that general area for the waterfalls we plan to see. And then to Ashville, NC (general area) for Thanksgiving, wife wants to see the Christmas decorations, Biltmore, etc. I have searched online some, but I cannot find a Watershed or Blue Sky type company for either Helen or Ashville. What is the go to cabin rental company for those areas? This message has been edited. Last edited by: holdem,

Have you tried VRBO? We've had great luck there!! _________________________________________________ "Once abolish the God, and the Government becomes the God." --- G.K. Chesterton

Helen, GA - my advice, stay in Asheville. So much more to do in Asheville, and while there’s traffic, there’s more than a single 2 lane road in Asheville.

We stayed here a few years back. Cabins of Asheville 25 Little Stoney Frk Road Candler, NC 28715 Helen, GA is pretty touristy. I prefer Dahlonega or Blue Ridge areas. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

Yes, but I have to wade through loads of regular homes and condos to find an actual cabin. The good cabin rental places make it easier.
We plan to do both, just at different times. Helen is a must do for the waterfalls in the area. For example, on my trip to Elijay, I went hiking all 4 days, 3 to waterfalls, and 1 along the river. If we just hiked each day to waterfalls and then went back to the cabin to relax with each other, that is a good trip. But of course the wife wants Ashville at Thanksgiving so we can see the Christmas decorations, Biltmore, etc.

Helen is nothing but dozens of identical t shirt shops ran by the same pakistani family. I'm not kidding. Visit Dahlonega instead. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

Book your tickets well in advance for Biltmore. It's worth the extra for the behind the scenes tour as well, place is unbelievable if you've never been.

Grey beard Rentals is nice for Asheville. We just did a week in Asheville at the beginning of December. It was great, we hiked, visited the Biltmore, visited the Arboretum for their Christmas light display, had great bbq and really enjoyed the town. This. You can skip Helen imo. Although there is a rafting business there that does brisk business. There are a bunch of wineries in the area .... a few of them are quite nice. Curahee into far away....Camelia, GA perhaps. Museum is in the train station in town. It’s a great visit. 0:01

I have stayed at this cabin just north of Asheville, right by the AT. Nice little place and very secluded. http://www.wolfbranchcabin.com/ My wife and I were in the Lake Rabun area in August and enjoyed it too. As has been mentioned Dahlonega is cool town and area.

Thank you Very little |
The german restaurant on the river is purty good, didn't see any Paki's in there... haufbrau Haus or something like that, we never stayed, it was a good place to get off the bikes, get food, walk and then head out, very touristy... More of a day visit than a destination... http://www.copperheadlodge.com/ Blairsville GA, they have a lodge and cabins, some with hot tubs, small garages, it's more of a motorcycle cabin place, they have events, concerts, fires, restaurant, etc...

A friend owns a restaurant in Helen. No Paki’s there either. ——————————————— The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Psalm 14:1

Bodensee is a great German restaurant, but every other shop is a paki owned t shirt shop. We go tubing up in Helen several times in the summer every year. It's just gotten worse in the past few years. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.
