It has no affect on my water bill. We capture the "waste" water from the RO system in buckets and use it for laundry, refilling the toilet tank upon flushing or in the garden.

Ours is more like 1:2. We use an APEC Water Systems countertop model (RO-CTOP – Portable 90 GPD Countertop Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System).
