A quartz watch that looks a bit like a bomb
I am not typically a huge fan of quartz watches but The Electricianz CarbonZ watch is definitely interesting.

It’s priced on point with many entry level automatic mechanical watches at $380. Being priced in a segment with tons of competitors it does have the benefit of being different. Twisting the red and green wires together is a great touch. Big Grin

Would you wear something like this?

Which wire do I cut . . . ?

It is not to my taste. The watch is more look than function. While a skeleton watch exposes the gut of the watch, it is still the function of the watch that drives how it is made. In this watch, the way it is made seems more driven by how they wanted it to look. I don't think there is a functional purpose for those heavy wires to run around inside the case and they are there just to look that way. I realize the wires do carry the current to the components of the watch, but other quartz watches aren't made like that - there is no functional reason for the watch to be made like this. For that reason, I don't dig it.

A neat novelty. Not sure I'd be a buyer at almost $400
A bit too busy for me, but definitely a conversation starter. I'd be intrigued if I saw someone wearing it.

Normally I'd say no, especially at that price. I'd consider it at a lower price point. It's certainly interesting to say the least.

Saw the brand name as an electrician (at least at heart) I had to see some other offerings. Amazon has a bunch of their stuff I like this one.

It looks like the price has dropped a little since that article was published.

If you buy it direct from the manufacturer’s website it is $325 with free shipping and potentially a discount if you sign up for emails etc.

Shocking! You could have quite a blast wearing that thing!

Thank goodness it's on a rubber strap, for insulation you know.

Not for me even if I am an electrician. I'd be partial to a dial with a spreadsheet motif though. Actually. no. The closest theme-watch I wanted was a mickey mouse watch and that was many years ago.

A watch has to win me over with its "watch" attributes.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." This is more my speed for a "beater." A sterile custom based on a Zeno 485 case and a hacking modified ETA 2846 movement on a grey leather Nato strap. Big Grin

Very nice bald1! I love the sterile 3,6,9 dial on that baby it works great with the white hands.

Squale makes a diver with a case and crown location/design that is very similar looking. I came extremely close to scooping one of those Squale divers up myself but a DLC Steinhart GMT diver with snowflake hands ended up winning out.

This bomb looking thing is a totally different animal. I could see it being a good curiosity piece and fun occasional watch to wear out and about. I am kind of drawn to it because it is so different from everything else in my watch collection.

That's a Markus Stein MOD (UK Ministry of Defense) dial. Smile

And yes the quartz bomb motif watch is an entirely different animal.

I think I'd put that on before Tag's new golf watch.
