It happens that we used exactly the same amount of NG last September, 10 thm. Last September our bill amount was $29.88. This year 10 thm costs $40.24, an increase of 34.67%. The Dems keep telling us that “inflation is down.” You know what? I think they’re lying.

Well, right before they say "inflation isn't a problem," they "adjust" the inflation metric to exclude groceries, fuel, and housing from the calculation. What is it that people spend the most money on? Are they fools for thinking we buy it, or are we fools for quoting their bogus numbers?

Inflation is the rate at which prices are increasing. When inflation is down, that just means that the rate of 'increase' is lower and that they are not increasing as fast as they were previously, not that prices are actually any lower! Unless there is 'deflation', prices will remain where they are!

I'm still on the initial fill from builder. That counts as free, right?

The other evening I was home, so I went to the local snowmobile club meeting. Joining the local club is now the most cost effective way to buy trail permits.

Later I swung through the Famers Almanac site. Not that I put high favor into long range predictions, but they have a colder, snowier and more ‘traditional’ forecast for this Winter.

Last Winter was in the easy side for heating a home. Just going by the law of averages, this one will be colder. I expect some serious heating bills as the temperature drops.

I do have my chimney clean, woodstove channels cleared, along with a 2 year wood supply.

It does not speak to the fact that lots of prices have gone up 30%, 40%, 100%

The only thing that will reset the clock is a painful recession.
