Sounds like reactionary rule making. Never a good idea. I wonder if you could get away with wall papering your garage with naughty pictures and leaving it open all day. they would probably pass a rule about that too. Or one could find the HOA board members units and leave them gifts in their open garages.

First response: Get a rope, or better yet as many ropes as there are board members. Second response: Ha! When we first moved to SLO, we rented in a condo complex in town. Not sure if it was in the CC&Rs or was just an HOA rule, but leaving your garage door open was verboten. The worst offender was the president of the HOA, still a friend twenty three years later. It may have been a rule, but it was honored more in the breach than anything else.

I have not yet begun to procrastinate |
The folks should get some decals like this: Looks like an open door to me! -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

Probably, but put a nativity scene in it and stand back.

My daughter, who lives in northern VA, has to put up with an HOA that is quick to fine anyone that doesn't bring in their garbage can on time yet the houses on either side, which are owned by Mexicans, house at least three families each. One family takes the main house, one the daylight basement, and usually a single guy lives in the garage. There's usually a car or truck which doesn't run in front of each garage and at least three more vehicles per house parked in the turn around and on the street in front of the houses including my daughters where you can barely get by. She's complained to the HOA but they say "it's difficult to prove". I'll forward how Placer County Homeowners have dealt with the problem. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Strange, most I know of say doors are to be closed. The mess ppl keep in their garages are an eye sore

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Sounds like a wonderful neighborhood if they're worried about people living in the garage. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Asinine rules governing other rules. Im sure the HOA has a policy about subleasing and occupancy requirements. Just enforce the rules when then they are broken.

I know this area well....and to say its a shit hole would be an understatement. This place is a couple of blocks from my business. Its our own little slice of section 8 type housing. Thanks to one of local county supervisors we now have a huge homeless issue in the area. (Two years ago we had no such issues). While I do not support the HOA or its policy, my guess is that they are trying to nip a problem in the bud before it becomes an even bigger issue. Either eay, it'll be interesting to watch this one play out. And if I lived there, I'd tell them to fuck off. Since so many of the residents are actually tenants, I suspect the compliance will be extremely low.

Take the first two hundred dollar fine and then serve the corporation and board memberd individually with notice that they will now be held responsible for any loss stemming from compliance with their rules.

You could do that, but I suspect it would hold no legal weight. How is the HOA responsible for a thief targeting your property? Not much different than a store not being liable if you are a crime victim in their no-gun zone. You have a choice. You don't have to be there. You don't have to follow the rules. All sorts of options at your disposal, none of which make them responsible.

It would be difficult to do but if one were to prove the negligence of the HOA was contributing factor to the theft, then the owner may have a shot at collecting.

I'd paint a giant mural of some one mooning the onlooker's on the back of my garage wall. This space intentionally left blank.

Thank you Very little |
Get one of the xmas projectors, then you can download videos to a USB, and set it on loop, hang up the screen where the door are is and you could have all kinds of cool things to be seen LOL I think I'd make it look like the doors part way open and surprising actors on a porn set that should get some folks going (nothing hard core)
