Maryland Gov. Wes Moore admits error in Bronze Star claim on fellowship application UPDATED Dec 23, 2024
In a day or two this story will vanish, as Demokrats are not held accountable for anything.
This may not be a huge deal, but if he was a Republican the Dems would demand his resignation.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore admits error in Bronze Star claim on fellowship application
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. - Maryland Governor Wes Moore acknowledged in an interview with FOX 5 on Friday that he mistakenly claimed to have received a Bronze Star for his military service in Afghanistan on a White House fellowship application 18 years ago. The error came to light after the New York Times obtained a copy of the application earlier this week.
"I take full accountability for an honest mistake that was made on an application that I sent out nearly 20 years ago," Moore said in an interview with FOX 5. "I'm incredibly proud of my service. I'm incredibly proud of the soldiers and the paratroopers that I led in combat. I led some of the best soldiers and some of the best warriors that the world has ever produced..."
I’ve never served, but am I wrong in thinking you should damn well know if you have or have not been awarded a Bronze Star? It’s not like a campaign ribbon, FFS.

ETA: Watch out for this asshat, everyone. He’s a typical Maryland GDC and every bit as smooth as Obama, maybe with less substance. He’s being groomed for national something.
I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

The placement of the Bronze Star medal on a resume which he did not earn is a big deal to us all.
On a related note, William Faulkner bought medals from a store. I do not know if he wore them.

Honest mistake from a liar is still a lie. He’s so proud of his service he had to lie about it. No honor.

Stolen valor.
He needs to be held accountable.

Should have known that just because your superiors told you that they recommended you for the medal, it does not mean you were awarded the Bronze Star. Hard to believe he did not know the difference.

An admiral committed suicide just because he was question wearing an embellishment on a medal that he was never officially awarded.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
It's not an honest mistake. He knew full well what he was doing when he did it.

I guess the DemoRats are so accustomed to lying about everything that he couldn't help himself. NO excuse for what he did!!

Yeah, this was not an "honest mistake". I was actually the opposite.
Now instead of being a veteran, he's a POS lying veteran.
10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

I had a buddy who said he was going to recommend me for the Silver Star for saving his beer from falling on the ground.
I think I need to update my resume.
Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.
I noticed in reading the Wiki profile, this is not the first instance in which he haa "embellished" his history. This again raises questions about his integrity.

There’s no way you list that by “mistake”.

Of course he knew he did not have a bronze star, he deliberately lied on his application for whatever reason but like every other democrat he won't be held accountable by the party, the media or his voters.

I mean Tim Walz just said it was bad grammar he used with respect to his lies about his service.

I have two. Everyone I've ever known 100% knows if they do or do not have one. It's normally presented to the member, but even if not (it happens) you'll get the citation along with a note from a higher ranking commander. And it'll be on your DD214.
This dude is a lying POS stolen valor asshole.

Funny, I know a bunch of dudes that have a Bronze Star, and a couple with Silver Stars. They never mention it, and play off that they don’t deserve it.

He got out at a captain. He had periodic reviews of his ORB, which would have all awards and citations listed on it. Same as his DD214, which he reviewed, verified and signed when he got out. He KNEW and elected to deliberately leave it on resumes, etc., to make him look good.
He would have received a copy of the award write-up (DA Form 639) and the BSM citation (DA Form xxxx).
