Kung-Fu series reboot
I was hopeful until I read the storyline. I really should have known better

In “Kung Fu,” A quarter-life crisis causes a young Chinese-American woman (Olivia Liang) to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns to find her hometown overrun with crime and corruption, she uses her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice…all while searching for the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.

Quarter life crisis ? Ha ha ha ha

I'm surprised that she's not black too.

And instead of Shaolin martial arts, she's practiced in Capoeira.

And anyone who trains at Shaolin now wears lots of spandex and black leather when they're pissed off.

By the time it is done, "she" will be half Asian/half black and transgender. Of course Mary Sue/Karen will have master the martial arts in 2 to 5 years. Roll Eyes

We have Woke Star Wars, Woke Bat Woman, and Woke Supergirl, and coming soon Woke Kung Fu.......The next step will be re-making Donnie Yen's Ip Man movies with a female or transgender as Ip Man. Mad

I heard this was background story:

"A greedy (aren't they all) Texas oil company with ties to Ukrainian white supremacists utilizes the services of a brotherhood of red-hat assassins who drive trucks and whose signature is a green cartoon frog to take over a town to be used as a transfer base to illegally send chinese South China Sea natural gas to Vietnam."

In reality: This about a chinese MSS sleeper agent in America that travels back to china to be trained as an assassin so that she can assassinate American patriots that oppose china's murderous authoritarian regime and to also steal U.S. intellectual property.

Remember when shaolin monks wandered rural America helping people out and reflecting on the wisdom of their kung fu master? Oh, and occasionally giving a kung fu beat down to the local bully.

At least Gulag-le and YT have not yet deprived us of Simon Yuen, Sammo Hung, Linda Lin, Gordon Lu, Dean Shek, Cliff Lok, Sonny Chiba, and dozens more kung fu classic actors.

I'm still upset with the Hawaii 5-0 reboot. Talk about sucking.....and its not particularly "woke." At least, as far as I could tell from watching half a show.

The original 1970s show was marginal at best, and the 1990s The Legend Continues sucked. I doubt if the third time will be the charm. How did the reboots of Ironside and Magnum, P.I. work out?

they are also making a woke version of Walker Texas ranger too.

Texas native Padalecki is going to be Walker.

Good luck for the wok guy trying to fill Chuck Norris's boots

The one starring Scott Caan's hair? Big Grin I don't care for it either. As much fun as cool guns, shootouts, car chases and hot chicks are in the short term, they aren't enough to carry a show. However, it has been one of the few successful (in terms of ratings and longevity) reboots.

Face it gents....
These reboots aren't for the older to relive their past.
It's a 30yr olds world now ....

It's not like the original series was without controversy. Bruce Lee came up with the idea and was supposed to play lead, not Carradine. But Bruce isn't white so he didn't get it. Was a great series anyhow, but this is more PC/Woke bullshit. Apparently every series now, Westworld as an example, or every film, example Star Wars, is gonna be some thin little frail woman being Mary Sue. Mary Sue all the things! The funny thing is they don't learn. This shit keeps bombing. Like Birds of Prey, or that last Charlie Angels bullshit, or the Batgirl lesbian show. They all fail financially. Where is the new Sly or Ah-nold when you need them because it certainly isn't the fucking Rock.
