Has Ben read the 13th amendment? I dont think you’re allowed to own anyone like that....lol. It does make me sad to see young people in such a state of delusion. Nothing Ben said to him will change his mind. Its almost like socialism/marxism has become a religion to college kids these days.

These children are solely lacking in anything approaching intellect when they can believe the fairy dust nonsense they do, while fully ignoring the accomplishments a free market economic environment has provided. That kid's parents should be looking for a refund of his college tuition.

I was pleased that Ben "answered" the "pencil assembler" at the end.
The "pencil argument", is like many one sided and circle arguments that "laborists" use.
But they always forget the part about not having the means, material, or equipment and associated upkeep ans so forth (risk) to put that labor/skill to use, and without that "capitalist investment", laborers are like hammers with no nails to bang.
Labor is really no more than another column on the "what we need to produce pencils" column.
It is not personal, it's business.
(now, labor relations and all that is a whole 'nuther part of business...)
And if people would go to college and seek Business Management as a base/foundation to all other higher education pursuits, we would have much better outcome from all fields of profession.
Because everything is "business" or derived from "business".
Some people are naturally wired for it, and some need to be taught, but many never will get it or understand it. The first group can let the latter group make pencils.
Business people use lots of pencils.

I think a lot of it stems from a fundamental delusion that all time spent on any sort of work should be equally valuable, which Ben kind of touched on at the end. Yes, labor creates value, but unskilled, easily replaceable labor does not carry the same value as uncommon, specialized, skilled labor.

The fact that a college kid is wrong isn't scary, but the fact that he couldn't make a rational point and had no substantive grasp of the subject, but was supremely confident in his drivel, and unwilling to learn, was disturbing.

And if that unskilled labor rate is 'forced' upward beyond its intrinsic value, there are a wealth of automated solutions waiting in the wings to replace that labor. Kid doesn't have any grasp that everything has a value, some things are more valuable than others, and trying to manipulate that relationship to benefit unskilled labor is a recipe for business owners to relocate their businesses or seek automated solutions to eliminate an noncompetitive cost situation.

And that clown is typical of the free-shit-army socialists infecting this country. They will argue their point as if it is valid because in their minds, it is completely valid and supportable. They cannot tell you why, it just is. They are the enemy.

Why does that seem unusual? This kid has probably been a part of 7-8+ years of teachers and professors telling him what he should believe, with no 'real' debate over competing ideas. He's just the product of a very broken US educational system.

It doesn't seem unusual at all. That's why I find it scary.

Just proves one more time that ignorance is an incurable disease.
I'm also sure Ugly Shirt is being celebrated as a hero by his comrades for "debating" Ben for such a long time, when in fact he couldn't put together a cognitive thought process, and all he was trying to do was move around his snowflake drivel, hitting Ben Shapiro's brick wall at every turn.

It's not unusual at all. In fact it is so commonplace that it seems to be becoming more of the norm. Hence the rise of AOC, Bernie Sanders, and other buffoons like them. This trend is significant and growing, and that's scary! There is a major storm brewing in this country on multiple levels and we need to be vigilant because it's hard to imagine the divisions doing anything but widening.

I actually found that exchange heartening and am willing to give the kid (questioner) some credit. It is indeed cringeworthy to hear an evidently intelligent person who knows enough about economics to tell us who coined the term “capitalism” and to proclaim himself to be a socialist and yet be so ignorant of free markets and industrial production. Nevertheless, he was willing to engage in open debate at a rational level without burning cars or throwing rocks through windows and even without tears or screaming. As I’ve asked before, who is responsible for a young person’s ignorance and diseased thinking? If he wasn’t better educated by his parents, teachers, professors, and other persons of influence, who is to blame?
At some point we must learn to educate and to think for ourselves, but at that age I knew a lot of things that weren’t true as well (thank you, President Reagan for that expression). But doing things like engaging in open debates is one way of educating ourselves. I don’t claim to be any sort of paragon of open-minded virtue myself, but I know many people—and not just on the left—who never expose their beliefs to challenges or analysis of any sort. Hopefully the guy who was “schooled” in this encounter will someday recognize the fact and hear what his ears have been exposed to during that discussion and others.

I agree completely with this. At least the kid was willing to put his understanding/beliefs out there in open debate with a formidable adversary. He's young enough to still learn. My opinions at age 52 are certainly different from what they were at 22.
Hopefully his eyes, or somebody else's eyes, will be opened by the exchange.
