While listening to an Old Time Radio episode of Dragnet. We were out washing the Hellcat (she likes helping cause hope springs eternal i might let her drive it)

In the episode, Friday asked the victim if he could use her phone to call the station.

Granddaughter asked why the sergeant didn’t use his cell phone like the popo do in her town. And, i fell for it, hook, line, and sinker…

"Well sweetheart, they didn’t have cell phones then and the radios in their cars weren’t scrambled for that type conversation"

"Did you have a cell phone when you were growing up?"

"Nope, we didn’t have cell phones then either"

"WOW!!! You really are an old fart, like my mom say."

When i turned to look at her, she had a big old, melt this old man’s heart, grin on her face.

Love it!

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

That's a girl after my own heart, except I would have kept a straight face to get your full reaction.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I'd diplomatically work into a future conversation that she had probably delayed that test drive by her actions. :-)

Making great memories is one of the biggies in life.

I remember years ago when they began releasing the Challenger that they had a quarter mile timer built it. I’m wondering if they still have that feature AND if they have a feature, especially in the HC for less than full power runs even at full throttle for those who need to work their way up.

This is neither here nor there, but my hot rod buddy got his dear old preachers wife mother to drive his modified Buick Grand National. I was in the backseat, and as we were approaching a two into one lane merge, the vehicle behind in the other lane accelerated hard to merge in front.

Not wanting that to happen, she nailed it. It took a second for the turbo to spool up, but when it did, we shot off like a rocket! She got all excited with all of the G-rated exclamations, and she eventually said, “Wow, it has a great passing gear!”

My buddy’s mom, one of the best women I’ve ever known, was later killed when a deputy sheriff crashed into her car in an intersection close to her house in Tucson. He was responding code to assist another who was chasing a ATV miles away. Such a sad ending to her story.
