hjs157Question Re: Shipping an AK Type Rifle to Illinois
Here's the CliffsNotes version. A customer has committed to purchase a semi-automatic AK type rifle from me via the large online auction. I contacted the buyer's FFL dealer in DuPage County who indicated he knows the buyer and that it is legal to ship the rifle and 30-round magazine to DuPage County. My concern is the buyer lists a Chicago address in his contact information. When I asked the buyer to confirm his current address, he gave me a business address in Lombard which is in DuPage County. My gut felling is to refund the buyer and walk away. Any advice from our Illinois members would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

casYou're not transferring it to the buyer, you're transferring to the FFL who's 100% legal. The end. Past that, none of your concern.
(coming from a ban state resident who constantly misses out on buying stuff because people in other states make problems up in their heads that aren't real)

This but also many folks who reside in restrictive areas often keep things at secondary locations ie their businesses because they aren’t prohibited from owning them just possessing them in certain areas.

p08You are sending the gun to a FFL in Illinois correct? If so it is up to the FFL to ascertain if it can be transferred to the buyer. The buyer could own it and store it outside an area where there is a ban. Chicago proper is I believe the only place that has a mag limit, it is 15 rounds. Sell the guy his gun. Yes I am a Il ffl.
