Recommendations for guided bird hunting trip
Naturally I ask the forum members for advice again as we have a great crowd with excellent knowledge and experience. I’d like to take my dad on a nice guided bird hunt somewhere in the Midwest. We’ve done one small hunt on a game farm locally and had a blast. It’s something he’s always wanted to do and never could. I’m not sure what seasons are like nor am I sure what kind of birds we should try to hunt. Our past experience was a mix of pheasant, chukkar, and quail. Ideally we will find someplace where the terrain isn’t too rugged as dad has some back and hip issues. I’m not looking for a 5 star resort but would like someplace that will provide guides/dogs and the ability to process the birds. If we can stay at the location that’s fine or a nearby hotel. I’m thinking 2-3 days or so. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

If you can get a copy of the Pheasant's Forever magazine, lots of places advertise there. I found a place in SD and have been going back for 25 years.

If you can travel as far west as Byers, Colorado, I recommend The Bluffs. Family owned, on-site accommodations, guides, dogs, and processing.

I’ve been a member for years and highly recommend them.

Ringneck Ranch in Tipton, KS does a nice job.

I'd recommend Harpole's Hunting Lodge in southwest Illinois.

Another vote for Ringneck Ranch. I’ve hunted there. A very nice place with comfortable accommodations, good food, and great staff. I would go back without any hesitation.

I hunt Dakota Wild Wings in Miller, SD for pheasant and Wynfield Plantation in Albany, GA for quail frequently. Both places would be able to accommodate your dad as the move you around the property in buses or Jeeps. Both offer accommodations, great food, great guides and dogs, and are not over the top frilly.
