ChuckWallit's USNS, not the real Navy, the better food and living navy, yes. A few of us had to do TDY on a USNS ship, can't recall what they carried(not oil), but the food was great! We all put on pounds for our week there. The crew was all civilian.
We must have caught it in Subic which screwed with our liberty before heading back up to the line off Vietnam. Wasn't much for us to do, we were ops, but it was a test to see what having Navy on them might accomplish.
