| When I planted my scarlet oak trees 20+ years ago I gave them around 2-3 gallons each 2 times a week in the drier months. They turned out well. Keep an eye on leaf tips in real hot weather they may need a little more. |

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Overwatering is just as bad. You must live in an upscale part of Chicago. That never happened when I lived there. Contact either the County Agent or a local nursery. Trees need extra care during the first two years. Fertilizer is important as well. |
