Those who have been around the forum for a while may recall I previously served 3 terms as a county commissioner. In 2014 I gave up my seat to run for our State House (with significant financial help from the forum, thank you). After finishing third in the primary, I took a couple years off and defeated our township supervisor, an office I served in for the past 4 years. When the person who followed me on the commission announced he would not run for re-election again, I chose filed to run for the seat in last August's Primary. I was uncontested in both the primary and General election. Tomorrow we have our organizational meeting and elect our Chair and Vice Chair who will then make committee assignments

I'm looking forward to returning to county government. We don't have an administrator so the commissioners do all the leg work as well as represent the Board to different agencies and units of government.

Congratulations Brad!!! Your doing something I could never do, wouldn't even think about it. Why would one want a thankless job? I praise you, as we need people like you!!!

Sadly you are in Michigan. If you were in my neck of the woods in CA, after one 4 year, well paid, part time position on the City Council, the city would pay 100% of your health insurance premiums, for the rest of your life (in lieu of a pension).

We are all proud of you. Thank you for your service and for fighting for good, clean government.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown
