On the heels of my best cameras comes trip plans. We will be in Scotland end of Apr to mid May with our young teenagers. Glasgow, Oban, Ft Agustus, Portree, Ullapool, Inverness, Dufftown, Aberdeen, Stirling and Edinborough. What are some must See's and places to eat local foods and seafoods.

Edinburgh Castle which is also home to the Scottish Crown jewels as well as the Stone of destiny,(Stone of Scone.) If you have never been there I would frankly pack some long underwear-regardless of the season-and a coat because it is a chilly place.

Now THAT is a proper Scotland trip. We were only able to visit Edinburgh. We ate at our Holiday Inn and a really nice pizza place on the Royal Mile, but I don't remember the name. I have pics from inside, but no name. Even though it was only 6 years ago, I just can't remember the other places we ate at.

Thanks it is a bucket list item this year has been rough for me lost my sister in March and my dad 3 weeks ago needed something to look forward to. Scratching that trip off the list.

Pitlochry, and the Edradour distillery. Very small place, but beautiful.
Edradour was once the smallest single malt distiller in Scotland, the tour is short (as the distillery fits in a barn) but the spirit is amazing.

We spent most of our time in Edinburgh so that is what I can recommend.
Oban and Dufftown were picked for just that reason

In all seriousness, this is it. I was in Edinburgh a couple years ago (visited Pitlochry too ArtieS) and I have to say that visiting the castles and various distilleries, and tourist sites was great. Don't forget Fort William https://visitfortwilliam.co.uk...otland/the-commandos The country is relatively small so you can see alot without travelling too long. However, I was more than a little disappointed with the food. Most restaurants (even highly rated ones) did not impress me with their seafood or meat. The best meal I had in Edinburgh was in fact the Haggis. There are Scotch bars around too where you can sample a dozen or so Scotches (one had several hundred options). These were great and surprisingly affordable.

The Highland area is a must IMHO.
Eilean Donan Castle.
Loch Ness ,buyy a T shirt at the little store there whilst looking for Bessie.
Also...DO watch a Scottish movie from the 80's, "Local Hero". Filmed in Pennan a cute little fishing Village. You will get the movie and want to visit the village or not. A love it or don't get it sort of film. Give it a watchh though.
DO eat haggis someplace. I didn't mind it and a Yank enjoying haggis really seemed to amuse the locals. Got us an afternoon trip on a small fishing boat to check lobster pots. Which was a highpoint of the trip. The boats owner and I got talking at the cafe and the boat trip invitation was haggis based. LOL.
3rd time I've tried to respond. Oban and Dufftown were chosen for a reason . Wish we could get to Islay as my favorites are from there. Guess I'll settle for Macallan, Glenfiddich and Glen Livet.

If you're "into" churches (I am), St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh is gorgeous. The stained glass windows are exquisite. An example: DSC_0146ax.jpg by David Casteel, on Flickr
You could take a tour of the Royal Yacht, Victoria.
