I know a fella with the 3.6 Outback. He absolutely loves it, and has had no problems in almost 124k miles. Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around. — — — — — — — — — — — — God bless America.

In with the first "that will buff right out" comment. I had a 2011 Forrester and got 136K miles problem free on it before I cut it loose. I was doing lot of get out in the woods stuff. The oil pan was so bad no oil change place would change my oil (which was OK as I like to do my own except when it's raining hard for months at time). I've never owned one, but the Nissan Leaf recommendation for a commuter vehical (they are slow charging cars and would suck on a road trip), makes a lot of sense. Especially if you had a second road car for long distances. (My real name's Bill. I was feeling paranoid when I signed up:-)

I skipped past a lot of posts, so forgive me if I repeat someone else's post, go to a doctor, just to be sure, in about 2018 my Cooper S was totaled, with me in it, dumbass on his phone rear ended me in traffic at about 65mph car totaled, I was tossed forward, then back, broke the seat, seat belt kept me kinda in place, had a brused shoulder from the shoulder strap, bruised elbow that his the door and a bruised back, from slamming back into the seat after it send me forward, dudes insurance was good, they paid for the car, but not what I wanted, guy at the insurance suggested I send him comp values for my car, and then said basically fuck you , here is what I am giving you, and mentioned I can get the balance from the other people, meaning the pain and suffering office, so I lawyered up, and it was worth it, got about double what my Cooper was worth, and all medical (PT for the bruised back, fortunately nothing damaged long term) so, do the diligence and fuck the insurance company I decided not to reinvest in a Cooper (despite the fact mine did great in an accident) and when with a Civic, the CVT was horrible, not on reliability but just the way it was programmed, but overall a good car, traded it later on a SUV https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Back to Subaru Per this thread, was thinking about a new-old-stock 2025 Elantra Hybrid: https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...935/m/1360095915/p/1 That's still not off the table completely, but found a 2020 Legacy Sport nearby that had me interested. 50k miles & photos look to show it in great shape. Looked at a 2018 Legacy Limited closer to home, but it had 97k on it, for nearly the same price. I believe 2020 was the first year for the DI FB25 [FB25D I believe, non-turbo] Anything, not mentioned above of the other options mentioned, to check on with these? The Enemy's gate is down.

P250, I’m pretty good at this sort of thing but I don’t know if you stated already, apologies if you have, what is your budget? What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Up until 8-9 months ago, you could find a Leaf with 212 mile range with maybe 2-3k on the ODO for $19k. And that was a CPO with a 7 year bumper to bumper warranty on it. They are bulletproof reliable. For a daily or commuter, impossible to beat. I hit 12 years on mine this month. You could easily find a low mileage one under that price point. You’d be looking at a 2018-2025. It looks like a run of the mill hatchback vs. my previous gen that has the stupid headlights that are raised above the hood. A L2 charger is about $500 but if you plug it in at night when home from work, on L1 (comes with the car), should be full or ideally charged to 80% by the next morning. Even the lower spec 2018-2025 has something like 150 mile range. I’d go for the higher spec to get the 212 range but more importantly, more HP/TQ. It’s actually pretty damn quick and there is virtually no maintenance. Use the regen braking and you’ll go nearly 50k miles without needing brake service (just brake fluid flush/swap). These things take such a massive depreciation hit, used, they are the bargain of this century. I was going to replace mine with the newer one a year ago but the house ate up all the $ to do so. I’m debating on doing it this year before all the low mileage ones are ate up, or saying F it, and getting a GR86 to replace mine. I’m still amazed in 12 years, how little I’ve had to do to it. 12v’s like an ICE car, but they go about 1 year quicker. I ran out of refrigerant on the AC system maybe 4 years ago. Thought the AC system had busted, nope, just ran out of juice and needed a refill. Tires, 12v’s, and in cabin air filters. Go test drive one. You’ll get torque steer but be amazed at acceleration. Nissan has always been near the bottom of my choices, outside of the out of budget Z & GTR. While I'm not sure I'm ready to jump to EVs, you aren't wrong, they're shockingly cheap with low miles. CPO 2024 SV Plus with 12k on the clock for $16k Looks to have most of the bells & whistles. Not sure that's the direction I'll go, there are times where I need more range than that, but for a commuter, not bad. You mention GR86, had a coworker with a 1st gen BRZ & it was a blast of a little car, I imagine the newer ones are better, and look better IMO. The Enemy's gate is down.

I can tell you, coming from a long time ICE fan, and I still am, for a commuter and daily use car the EV is hard to beat, used they are bargains. Bought the Wife a Chevy Equinox EV, and she loves it, no more gas, no more maintenance expenses, we have a L2 home charger, just plug it in and go to bed, its back to 80% easily. If you can fine a Chevy Equinox EV LT1 with all the rebates and deals Chevy is providing and dealer incentives you could get a brand new one potentially for sub $25K, sometimes even less out the door, I've read that some dealers have discounts up to $15K. The new Chevy Bolt is pretty good as well, and there are crazy deals on these as well. Used LT1's are bargains as well, if you are not into Nissan, a Tesla Model 3 would be a great option as well, and, they are very quick so you'll still have that performance itch scratched. Home charge it during off peak times and you'll pay very little to drive it, no more oil changes, and drive it with Regen long intervals on brake work.

I'd be real wary of a Fusion. My son had one around the vintage you're looking at and the transmission was absolute junk. Like Ford could never get it to work correctly junk. After their third attempt to fix it with spit and baling wire, he traded it in. Good riddance.
