In my volunteer days we had a particularly hectic night. Add elements of an official 4th of July fireworks display, basically anything that goes bang, boom, flares or flies was legal for anyone to purchase, combine this with a city in the dry southwest. You get the gist.

We had three trucks, three ambulances and one Chief's vehicle. Every vehicle manned with a minimum of two people. Everything and everybody on the streets.

Slight lull in the unofficial display we are sitting around the main station. Alarm, brush fire. We had two Chevy ambulances almost identical but very slight differences. I jumped behind the wheel, keyed the mic. SOP was to radio in unit number and request for time out.

"Rescue 13 to dispatch, 10-36, oh shit, I meant Rescue 14, damn things all look alike"

Dispatcher replied "Watch your potty mouth."

Never play with an idiot that has access to the S3 net.

One glorious FT. Drum winter we were out on ftx and were having a hell of a time bringing in an LOS shot. They new butter bar came over to ask what we thought the issue was. A good buddy of mine explained in great detail that it was too cold and the radio waves were freezing .....

Well we had a good chuckle until the PS came charging towards us and advised us that the young and impressionable LT had announced our "issue" to the S3......which led to a fairly pregnant pause and a call to "repeat last transmission"....to which she responded the same thing just at a louder and slower cadence Big Grin

While he was amused were promised various forms of corporal punishment....
