Lawmakers in Maryland have put forward a bill that would make condoms available throughout elementary schools in the state.

The controversial bill was introduced by Democrat Del. Nicole Williams of Prince George's County. The legislation, Bill 380 would repeal a ban on condoms and other forms of contraception being available within vending machines at kindergarten, nursery, elementary or secondary public schools.

Maryland’s House of Delegates advanced the bill on Friday, 89-41. It now is headed to the Democrat-controlled Senate, WMAR 2 reported.

One Republican lawmaker, Del. Kathy Szeliga, said that Democrats have “lost their minds.”

"MD lawmakers have officially lost their minds. Condom vending machines in SCHOOLS—from preschools to high schools? Yes, you read that right," Szeliga said after the bill's passage in the House.

"Thanks to HB 380, the ‘Condoms for Kiddies’ bill, your child’s school could soon be a one-stop shop for birth control. What’s next, hormone therapy at recess? This is what happens when the people in charge put ideology over common sense," she reportedly added.

To be fair, the bill would not mandate that they be installed - only remove the criminal penalty for doing so. Of course, this being Maryland, one will lead directly to the other in certain (but certainly not all) jurisdictions.

Great idea! Put them right next to the cigarette vending machines. 21 and over of course. Maybe throw in some Pornhub premium gift card machines.

Tack on an amendment to require Bibles in the machines. The key is to make the choices these leftist make unbearable for them.

Instead send the condoms to those 89 delegates. We don’t need those idiots reproducing.

There's a Delaware somewhere in the Gaza area, if I remember correctly, maybe this is the Maryland section of Gaza, where they train the kiddies how to make IED's out of condoms.

Is this the kind of thing that really needed to be prohibited by law in the first place? Certainly wasting more resources repealing it is stupid, too, but do you guys think a similar law is on the books in most states? I doubt it. This is sensationalist journalism.

This is just more erosion of morals by the left. There is absolutely no need for condom machines in children’s schools. None.

When I was in high school my mom gave us condoms. She didn't condone anything and advised against it but she wanted us to be safe. Condoms were also available at the sex ed teacher's portable. But again, it came with the education.

This is not that. A vending machine doesn't teach any lesson. It sends a message that this behavior is okay and welcomed.

Let's not even get into this at elementary and middle school levels.

Out of curiosity, what is the age of consent in MD? Drinking age? Age to purchase firearms?

Reason I'm asking, is if putting sexual consumables into schools - populated by many people under the age of consent - would be OK, why not put ammo and beer steins in the vending machines too?
