Something I have noticed is a lot of these "home" security systems is the lack of ability to get facial shots because people mount them at near ceiling height. Did you consider mounting any low and looking up or maybe looking out a window to keep someone from walking off with it?
This is a problem with most installations. The way it's solved the right way is a second up-looking camera mounted head-on. (I won't be doing that due to lack of access. Unless this
HikVision Doorbell cam, or similar, can be persuaded to work with my surveillance system.)
The reason it has be to a second camera you've already identified: It's susceptibility to vandalism or (and this actually happened) theft. That and the fact that, mounted so low, it won't get a good bird's eye view.
Putting it behind a window would probably be suboptimal for a number of reasons. (Dirt or other interference on the window, glare/reflections, window interfering with auto-focus or auto-iris, etc.)

Absolutely correct, mounting positions are critical for optimization.
Most will be an afterthought, first choice for placement is generally for convenience rather than the picture.
Dome cams are better for security and bullet (less secure) are better for pic quality.
FWIW, virtually all of these cams do not have auto focus (auto iris - yes).

That is the doorbell camera I have for my house. I got mine from Nelly’s.
I hope to get it up and running eventually.

kaleiI have a 4 camera wireless system made by Blink, super easy to install. Runs off of AA batteries (2 per camera)either standard or lithium..supposedly good for 2 years, but kinda doubt that.. Great resolution both day and night. Cost was $120. I put the app on both my iPhone and iPad. The Sync module is centrally located so all 4 cameras work fine.

sig229-SASI have 7 cameras on our system, I simply plugged in the new controller to the system and added the camera's, works great but with that many cameras I have to keep up with which one needs charging.
Overall I'm very happy with the system but I did have to turn down the sensitivity of several cameras, the leaves blowing would set it off.

JakiHereWe've been using arlo for quite some time now and still impressed with its night vision. We use it around our home, one is even used as baby monitor and it's good so far. The problem is the battery. This is for our cameras on the front porch, since it's a little busy in there. We used to charge the batteries every 4-5months, now we're down to 3months max. I definitely don't mind buying for spare batteries soon though.

Black92LXVery happy with this system for what it is after 3 months.
The front door battery is just now needing to be recharged but this is the main entrance and is used multiple times everyday and is also triggered whenever a vehicle pulls in the driveway.
For a simple overview camera system I think it is top notch.
