I think my TV is on its last leg sadly which means I need to spend some unplanned money. So I'm doing the rounds through all the various stores as you do, and honestly getting a bit annoyed and bummed. Currently have a 48" Samsung. Obviously I have no interest in going smaller, but the issue is I am limited on the overall size of the TV due to the "hole" it needs to fit in. That hole being 42"x29". My current TV fits exactly on the width and I have some room to spare on the height, which basically means 48" or less. And this is where things start getting annoying. I can find loads of 43" and under and loads of 50" and up. All of which are sub $500. I can find a total of EIGHT TVs at 48" across multiple stores which will fit in the 44" hole. One of them is $600 on sale price, and the other 7 range from $1300-$1600. And that's it for 48" TVs. Anything 50"and up starts at 44" width, which will not fit where it needs to go and I have no way to get the extra 2" to get it to fit. Which sadly means I eather need to go down to a 43", which I don't want to do, or spend $600 on the one and only other available option. I will NOT be spending the $1300 and up that's for sure. And as much as I really wouldn't mind going bigger, I just cant. Seriously what the heck on the pricing of things? I don't get it lol

More common sizes have more manufacturers competing for your business so prices are more competitive. If you can wait, you might monitor Amazon, Best Buy, etc for Black Friday deals. I’ currently doing that for a 27” TV for our kitchen. Good luck finding what you need. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

Thanks, the one at $600 right now is apparently a early black friday price at Best Buy. I would kinda prefer to not have to spend that or more but it is a 4k LG, bottom of the line model but still lol. I am hoping I can hold out a bit longer with my current one but it is getting a bit questionable how much longer it will last.

Can you get one of those TV wall mounts for the slightly larger tv? They articulate in and out and side to side. If the hole is not too deep this will work well. THIS IS JUST ONE EXAMPLE They come in all kinds of shapes and motions and different mounting brackets, etc. Push it back to the opening when done and you'll barely realize it's there. .

Thanks, sadly no. It's actually sitting in a entertainment center of sorts. I was sort of kicking around trying something like that but in a desk mount but with the extra width it would end up sticking out and overhanging the sides by too much.

The difference in price in the same size TVs is the technology. LED TVs are much cheaper that OLED. LG A2 OLED is older tech also but much better than LED. Best buy is running a sale on A2s at $549 for a 48" A couple of years ago that was top of the line for three times the cost. LG C2 series is at $1000 +/- LC C3 is this years tech 1200 +/- Going to be some big sales come Black Friday. Go to a store and check what level of tech you are happy with. C2 was fine for me when I bought my last TV

FIFY... NO SUCH THING as an LED TV that's not OLED, though some manufacturers (I'm looking at you, SAMSUNG!) would have you believe so! ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! We have a similar problem, the largest TV that fits is 49", not a lot of those out there. We had a Vizio, was fine until it went bad, only a couple of years old. Now we have a TCL, fits perfect and has been fine for a couple of years.

The latest models (this year’s releases) will be more expensive, but you can find good discounts on last year’s models. This creates wild swings in prices for very similar TVs. I’ve found CNET has good reviews if you want to compare different generations, what’s the best in a particular year, and what you should expect to pay. SJS

Costco’s selling the LG C3 48” OLED model for $1050 right now. Might drop a little during Black Friday sale, but that’s the current model. The older B and A models will be less. Comes with 5 year warranty. Add $60 if you need to join Costco first.

I watched countless hours of reviews for a couple of months trying to decide this summer, finally deciding on 65” LG G2. For those who don’t know, the ‘2’ in G2 corresponds to the years - ‘G2’ being a 2022 model. I just couldn’t see about an extra $1k for the current G3, which is an actual step up in performance. But…during this research and numerous visits to Best Buy and other stores, I really fell in love with the crazy dynamic range of OLEDS. Inky blacks and vibrant colors is pretty standard from the top models to the entry levels. But…after watching all this hours and hours of videos and talking to dealers, they almost scared me off due to image burn-in inherent to OLED screens. For those watching a lot of anything where a banner is constantly on like the CNN or similar logo, look at something different. Like me, using my TV as a computer monitor where the dock or screens icons always being in the same place will get you, too. Another selling point for OLEDs is that they are crazy thin. Check silhouette views of different models and you’ll see what I mean. The ‘G’ in the ‘G2’ of mine is for ‘gallery’ which means it is designed to be flat against the wall like a picture frame. Due to that, it is a little thicker than other models due to that feature. Lastly, another selling point for the Gallery series is the 5 year factory warranty on the screen. The ‘O’ in ‘OLED’ stands for ‘organic’ so they will wear out. Take care of them, and they will get you down the road. Retired Texas Lawman
