This whole episode was a dog and pony show for each sides respective bases. Nothing more. Convenient how the government "shut down" on a Friday night and "reopened" on a Monday morning. Perfect for the least amount of real impact, and also good for facetime on all those weekend political shows.

But hey, these heroes can now go on and on about how they saved the country through their superior statesmanship.

This is certainly true. It is also true that this nation would be far better off if we had statesmen who made decisions based on what they truly believed was best for the country instead of which way the wind was blowing, but here we are...

If polls worked, Trump would not be our POTUS.

Polls are very easily manipulated.

I think it's funny as shit to see them quote polls on Trump's popularity. They didn't learn anything from the election which all the polls said Hitlery was a sure thing.

The mainstream media keeps spouting bullshit that isn't anywhere close to the truth. And they end up believing their own bullshit.

They should follow the basic rule most dope dealers live by... Don't get high on your own supply.

This whole thing is about the Democrat constituent base. They know that every day, someone gets off welfare and gets a job. Every day someone goes from a minimum wage job to a career path job. Everyday, there's a new millionaire.

Democrats need to replace these people on welfare and earning minimum wage. There's a shortage in this constituency. So, naturally they want to import them. They requre a perminent underclass to stay in power.

That's why they hate Trump so much. They know his policies are going to work (and they already are). People will see this and eventually come to resent the democrats for keeping them down with their failed policies.

They didn't vote Obamacare in because they thought it was a better system. They knew it would fail, and when it did they figured people would welcome full-on socialized medicine.

I can see why the Left gave it a try. Hold a continuing resolution to fund the Government for a few weeks hostage to obtain DACA legislation that would affect this country forever. Pretty smart, if it had worked, to trade an emergency/temporary funding bill for permanent, far reaching, legislation. It didn't work this time, but there will soon be another opportunity......

BTW, I was curious as to where the polls would place the fault for the shut down. NBC news tonight indicated ~47% blamed Trump and/or Republicans and 20-something %, blamed the Democrats. Surprised the Democrats caved actually.

Of course such a poll would say that. Like Calvin in the cartoon, they're polling their own viewers, with their own predispositions and prejudices.

So inept they were stunned when outsider first time politician beat a multitude of opponent political machines and the establishment in general. They couldn't even clean up their corrupt mess in the months between their stunning loss and the inauguration.

Are they even capable of conducting a poll and interpreting results effectively?
