2000Z-71Gotta’ brag on my daughter!
As of this morning she has completed her commercial pilot rating! She’s had some very aggressive goals and she just succeeded in getting her commercial rating before her 21st birthday.
My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball. April 10, 2026, 11:08 AM

Exactly my thought! Congrats to you and her.
Are there different ratings in the commercial sphere?

clipper1It seems your daughter Maya has been an outstanding star from the get-go! What an impressive young lady whose Dad has legit bragging rights.
Congratulations to both parties.

Scooter123Make sure to tell her that when she hits 10,000 hours she will NOT have experienced everything that can happen, she will just Think she has. It's a point where pilots tend to get cocky and some end up dead because of this. Once she hits 20,000 hours or more then she will fully understand why NOT taking any "shortcuts" keeps you flying.
I've stopped counting.

Yes. Using FAA terminology, Commercial Pilot is not a "rating," it is a Certificate. Ratings are sort of endorsements, that indicate privileges and limitations for the holder of the Certificate.
Examples of ratings include category and class; category describes things like airplane, glider, rotorcraft, lighter than air, etc.
Class describes sub-divisions within category. Examples, airplane category has classes like land, sea, single or multi-engine.
Other ratings include things like instrument rating.
Type ratings, that specify make and model, need to be earned for airplanes with gross weight exceeding 12,500 pounds or airplanes of any weight that use jet engines.
All of this stuff is defined in Part 61 of the FARs (Federal Aviation Regulations), which make entertaining reading if you read, write, and speak fluent governmentalese.

Rey HRHIirc, you were just showing pictures of her as a kid, I think in archery? How time flies.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
