My arm muscles just hurt and a 50 lb bag of fertilizer feels a lot heavier than it used to. I looked up symptoms and lymes came up more than once. It's localized to arms, both of them. Biceps and upper forearm, nothing on triceps or lower forearms. No other soreness other than normal work day tiredness anywhere else.

I did have an unexplained rash on my right abdomen a while back but it went away so I didn't think of it after that. It felt like i rubbed against fiberglass insulation more than a bite. I can't think of any other bites or rashes.

Anyone have lymes disease? Does it sound like a concern or am I just whupped from this work year? Yes, I'm making a doctor appointment.

symptoms of lyme, for me (had it 3 times) are headache (like head in in a vice) that does not abate with any NSAIDs, and generalized flu-like symptoms (body ache, sore (all over), mild fever).

Lyme does not always create the bullseye rash.

definitely get tested. and if lyme, you can be happy it is treatable with antibiotics, and not the other tick-borne one, alpha-gal, which makes you allergic to meat.

No flu symptoms, just the achy arms. It's probably not Lyme but it won't hurt to check.

Are you on statins? Muscle pains are a common side effect of those.

I had something similar many years ago, no problems walking, sitting getting up etc.
Was unable to turn a doorknob, pick up a pen etc. It was diagnosed as a bacterial infection.
Antibiotics and an anti inflamatory, felt better in a few days.

Dont wait, see doc.

Yes Mark. Get tested and go from there. If negative at least you can eliminate it as a possibility.

Don't just check for Lyme; run screens for all tick borne diseases. I thought I had Lyme and tested negative several times then ran for all tick borne crap...still negative. After several months a smart infectious disease Dr. ran cultures and after a few days one came back positive for Anaplasma/Anaplasmosis. Very similar to Lyme.
My symptoms were migrating muscle and joint pain in my legs moving from upper legs to calfs to ankles to around my knees. Some arm and shoulder pain. The story goes on but bottom line is don't settle for the first negative test results. Doxycycline fixed it.

Lyme Disease can be a mean bitch. I got it in 1986 while living in Massachusetts but it wasn't diagnosed. Thought it was chicken pox. Had a sore throat, flu like symptoms, fever, stiff neck and oh yeah a funny rash, although not the classic bullseye. Was very sick for a couple of weeks.

Couple of years later my knee swells after a run and stays swollen for weeks. Multiple docs can't figure it out, sent to Newport RI Naval hospital for surgery on the knee in 1989 to see what was wrong. Asked about Lyme then. Every doc shot that possibility down. Three weeks post surgery, when others were off their crutches and dancing around I was still swollen and could barely walk. Surgery showed a possible old meniscus tear and mucho inflammation of the synovial lining in my knee. Still a mystery as to why my knee was so swollen. Eventually the swelling subsided and I trucked on.

3 years later, now living in Mobile, AL, the opposite knee and elbow both swelled up like balloons. Off to a civilian infectious disease doc (referred by my flight physician) who tested me for lupus, syphilis and rheumatoid arthritis. I asked if he would throw in Lyme. He said sure and turns out I was almost off the charts. Got a 19 day treatment of Rocephin via IV and eventually the swelling was relieved and I was able to get back to work and flying.

How do I know I got it in 1986? Looking back in my health record and remembering how sick I had been in Jun that year. Since 2009 I've had another knee surgery, a hip replaced and heart ablation surgery for AV Node Reentrant Tachycardia in 2014, discovered after fainting and wearing a heart monitor. Was grounded for 3 years. I believe much of my heart and joint issues stem from those 6 years of untreated Lyme Disease.

I am currently grounded again for fainting and a different heart arrhythmia that was caught on my latest 30 day heart monitor. The Mayo clinic lists heart problems, such as irregular heartbeat as a symptom of Lyme in some patients and neurological problems if left untreated. Could be another source of my fainting issue.

Early treatment is key, which means you need an early diagnosis, so by all means have them test for it if you suspect you have it. Many doctors don't seem to believe in the disease, as I have had more than one tell me that I probably never had it and I am over it if I ever did. This despite test results in my health record showing without question that I have the disease. That is frustrating beyond measure.

Hopefully the docs can figure out and treat whatever it is you have going on.

No. I have no prescriptions. I take OTC fexofenadine and fluticasone once a day.
