Wife got this food service bag of rice pudding from a food service guy that does business with us and we barter stuff back and forth. I've never had it. Don't know if this is just basic bland rice pudding or if it's flavored with something. I've done some interweb searching and looks like it's pretty versatile. Add fresh fruit drizzled with honey or maple syrup add a lemon sauce, cinnamon and so on.

We have about six guests coming Saturday so I'll try it out on them. But I wanted to ask here if anyone has any tried and true ways of serving it. Man this is a lot of rice pudding must be 3lbs. of it!

I use it to hide the medication I have to give my dog each morning and night. For what it's worth, she loves the stuff.

I made it yesterday for the bride & 2 16 yr. olds, we just used smaller bowls (a tad smaller than a cereal bowl)…. We all grabbed seconds. Probably should have started off with cereal bowls.

I got a recipe from New Orleans. Mmmmm!

We like it as well as tapioca pudding.
Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on top of the rice pudding or with fresh strawberries or other berry fruit and serve well chilled.

Thanks guys. I think I might go with some fresh fruit drizzled on top with some honey or I have some high quality flavored maple syrups I could use to. Sound like it should work?

I grew up knowing rice pudding as something different.

Grandmother took left over rice and mixed it with cream, eggs, sugar, cinnamon and a drop of vanilla and baked it until it was more of a bread pudding texture. Cut a good square and eat it with a pad of melted butter on top

First time my wife said she was making rice pudding I was so excited until she brought me a bowl of this soggy oatmeal nonsense

Maybe consider the shelf life and if it goes into survival food stores. My last meal will be a can of grapes if I make it to the end of my food stores. Yes, a can of grapes.

With the cinnamon/sugar I sometimes mix in some granola. The fruit idea works to.

I put banana slices in a bowl, add some walnut halves and dried cranberries, then a couple of large spoons of rice pudding. Top it off with a sprinkle of ground nutmeg.

... stirred anti-clockwise.

Scandinavian style: add ground cardamom and slivered almonds

Can whip sweetened heavy cream stiffly and fold into the rice pudding to make a more mousse-like dessert

My favorite is raisin rice pudding. You could plump up dark or golden raisins in rum or brandy and mix in with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top

You push it to the back of the fridge and forget about it.

Then you find it in about 6 months…and say “eeeeewwwwwww” and toss it.

Big Grin
