My Daughter graduated from the University of Alabama last weekend, with her MBA.

She took the STEM path to the MBA they offer, which is a 5 year program.

To say I am proud is an understatement.

She graduated with ZERO debt, has a great job lined up(beginning next month) and is buying a new truck.

A little history, in 2009, we purchased a 2006 F-150 XLT (yes, the one with the dreaded spark plugs). She used this truck to pull a Corn Pro trailer with one horse. The F-150 has served us well and has made countless trips from Cincy to Tuscaloosa over the last 5 years.

1.5 years ago, she bought a larger (bumper-pull) horse trailer and she does occasionally pull two horses.

The F-150 with 132,000 miles was beginning to struggle, especially when going South through the Mountains.

Hey, it is time.

After spending a solid month looking at used trucks, we decided on a new truck. We looked at F-250's, but wanted gas, Super Crew cab, short bed. Apparently there is a problem with the 2016 and/or 2017 F-250's with gas engines and Ford has halted the sale of at least the gas 2017's.

At $40,000, I thought we had a pretty decent budget to work with.

have you priced trucks lately? WOW!!!!

A friend was able to get us some very strong pricing on a Chevy 2500. This is a work truck, but has s few bells and whistles. My Daughter does not need all the bells and whistles.

This particular truck comes with vinyl floor covering, not carpet.

For the F-150 (which had carpet), we bought Weathertech matts.

Even though the new truck has the vinyl floor, I wanted matts, to protect from wearing through the vinyl.

Apparently the vinyl floor eliminates the use of the Weathertech matts, as well as most others we have researched.

For those who have the vinyl floor covering in their trucks, what do you use for floor matts.

The new truck will be ready for us next Tuesday.

As always, thank you to the SIGforum Brain Trust.

Congratulations on her graduation and JOB!

I've always liked Weathertech mats. Why can't you use them on top of the vinyl? It seems the floor would be shaped the same. Maybe the harder plastic ones will slide around? What about their older style of heavy rubber mats? Not as custom fit, but should work well. I really liked the older heavy rubber mats and was disappointed that they didn't make something like that in the custom fit versions.

If there is only vinyl in the truck, another idea would be to buy the carpet or the jute mat that normally goes under it and just add that to the truck. It's really not that difficult, although it is time consuming, as the seats have to be removed. You could add the carpet or maybe just the jute mat and put the custom weathertechs on top of it.

Weathertech makes flat all weather mats as well, not just the high sided fitted mats. Have you looked at those? Also, Husky Liner has nice mats.

Out of curiosity I just called Weathertech, and they said they're not recommended for vinyl floors just because they won't stick as well. The heavy rubber ones have little nipples on the bottom designed to dig into the carpet. I've had these and they are heavy, and I can't imagine them sliding around on the vinyl. I would definitely feel comfortable recommending them. If you are really concerned about them sliding, buy some heavy duty Velcro and stick them to the floor. Or just get a few carpet scraps and some upholstery spray glue, and glue a few pieces down to the vinyl to give the Weathertech mats something to grip.

Take a look at Lloyds RubberTite line. I have their cargo liner in my charity, and it works extremely well. They would probably fit the bill.

I bought Weather Techs for our 2016 Expedition for the front second and third row seats. I wanted a cargo mat for when the 3rd row seat is in the down position but Weather Tech didn't make one for that but Husky Liners did so I bought that.

Both are working well and are of good quality. I don't think you will go wrong with either brand.

Trucks at my work have vinyl floor and weather tech mats. It is beyond annoying how they slide around because there is nothing to attach to. I had one slide up under the gas pedal so I could not press it. Not safe at all in my opinion.

I bought a Colorado last year with vinyl, I put Husky Mats in it. They do not slide around.
It would not be hard to fasten them if they moved around.

I think manufacturers are worried about liability. Remember the famous Toyota sliding floor mats?

Weather tech laser cuts. Best I've ever had.

Congrats sir, you should be proud. That's a remarkable achievement with no debt. That beats 90+% of these kids out there.

I chose this exact brand/model for my truck. I preferred it over the Weathertech, because is more like rubber instead of vinyl like the W's, but it's not sticky at all. And, they're less $ to boot. The fit is exact, high walls, etc. All the dirt is basically in the mats. It doesn't escape.

Weathertech or Husky.

I went with Weathertech for my Tacoma, but I'd be good with either.

I've had both Weathertech and Husky floor mats and liners.

Not sure if Weathertech now has a comparable mat, but I have found the Husky X-Act Contours to be superior.

They are heavier and made from a softer compound than the Weathertech liners so they seem to lay on the floor better and feel better under your feet.

my dad just got a scrap from the carpet store and cut it to fit the area in the front. He put the carpet down and then used the weather tech brand. they do slide all over when it's vinyl against the weather tech..

Even though the truck does not come with carpet, you can certainly order it from the parts department and install it, then add the floor mats.

I'd talk to my local upholstery shop and get their advice. They have great experience and resources.

Wish I could help you out, but I've been running the same set of heavy rubber no name mats from the local auto parts place for the last 15 years. Work good enough for the $20 I have in 'em.

Congrats to your daughter for getting out debt free. It's tough to do now.
