I'm glad too! I wonder if he had a feeling about his near future.

I saw Black Sabbath sometime in 1977 I think...or late 1976 maybe, at the Boston Garden. Opening act was Kiss. At the time this seemed "normal", but looking back, that was quite an event.

I'll have to put on some Black Sabbath tonight.

I was never much a Metal fan but I did like some Black Sabbath. My favorite Ozzy song was Crazy Train.

Personally I never cared for his work but I know many that did, not just a little bit either. Godspeed Ozzy.

Wow, this is the first I am hearing of this. Grew up listening to Ozzy and loved all his music. Gonna have to listen to some Ozzy now. RIP. Those were the days with Ozzy, Metallica, ZZTop, Iron Maiden, etc!

RIP Ozzy. 1980, I was at Coronado doing some training. We saw Steppenwolf at the Gator club, and Black Sabbath was going to play in San Diego. We made plans to go, and had gotten called out so we missed it. Never did get to see them or Ozzy solo.

RazörFist did a great tribute to Ozzy last night.

I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up.

Yesterday, British rock star Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76.

Here in Texas, we remember him for a particular incident which is emblematic of our state. The excellent history X account Traces of Texas describes it.

In 1982, while thoroughly intoxicated, Osbourne urinated on the Cenotaph, a monument to the Alamo martyrs which stands in front of the old chapel. He was arrested and, after his performance the following night, banned from performing in San Antonio for a decade.

Osbourne returned in 1992, profusely apologized for his act of defilement, donated $10,000 to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (which maintains the site), and performed for two nights.

David Crockett famously said, "You can all go to hell and I'll go to Texas," before leaving Tennessee on his final journey into glory. Texas is a home of second chances and starting over. Ozzy Osbourne received his second chance and redemption for an impulsive act just a few yards from where Crockett fell. The official Instagram account for the Alamo mourns his passing with respect and kindness.

I wasn't into HM music growing up during the 80s, but really grown to appreciate it when I picked up the guitar. Black Sabbath and Ozzy are the godfathers of HM. RIP ol school. You're home.
