I think you and ensigmatic are on to something with the idler pully arm being close to full extension. In you first post, you mentioned a "new blade clutch that pulls grabs really hard". First question that comes to mind is how long after the new clutch did you start having belt problems? The second question is what are the chances that the clutch grabs hard enough that the idler arm doesn't have enough travel to absorb the initial shock putting more strain on the belt than it can handle? I don't know if it's valid, but I don't engage my deck with the engine at WOT. From an idle, I engage the clutch as I open the throttle. The engine doesn't stall and I figure it's easier on the clutch and belt than engaging the clutch at WOT.
That's a poor practice by the dealer. Having the parts in stock was a big reason for me buying my Exmark at the dealer I bought it from. I really enjoy parking, walking 15 feet to the door, going in and saying I need a xxxx, the guy says let me get that for you, and has it by the time I reach the counter. In and out in 5 minutes. It's the complete opposite of the way most business interactions seem to go for me. Comcast for example. | |||
