Interesting take on a new helmet design, eliminates chin straps, easier to put on, less wind intrusion..

Not a rider but a big fan of helmets for y'all.

What does that system do in case of a severe impact to the side of head near the release? I'm sure they've had to think of that, but seems almost impossible that it would be as certain not to release as a strap is to stay under chin if properly tensioned.

Interesting. I don't think a chin strap is too much hassle, but to each his own. There is one feature that stands out: the hinge has a safety release that should make it easier for EMTs to remove compared to a traditional helmet. Its price is in Arai territory.

I'll stick to my modular Nolans.

I'll guess Snell has pondered the chin strap ad nauseum and it works. Great idea that could lead to better ones.

Same except Shorai. There have been countless one off in my 20+ years riding. They never seem to go far. I trust Arai, Shoei, AGV, Shark, the helmet companies who are on MotoGP riders' heads. These companies remain at the front of tech and dev for helmets, and in GP they are regularly tested.

With glasses it can be, depending on the helmet.

I would consider one, but Arai are pretty expensive. That would be a factor.

I've been using the Nolan modular helmets for the past 12 years.

I think I'll just stick with them.

For a guy like me who has worn glasses, since I was 16(when I bought my first bike), that is great.

Nice as he was putting it on I was thinking how hard would it be EMS to remove it without moving the neck after an accident. As he took it off looks like a lot better the a strapped helmet.

I think any shell with a large hinged surface would be subject to separation from the head in a typical twisting chaotic head impact.

I would like to see the shell quality with a typical Arai shotgun blast or two.

If laced boots can be flung off a rider's feet in a crash (and they most often are) I think a helmet like this could fly off.

I have a perspective few others do, having had a 60mph impact with a stopped car that sent me airborne over the car and onto the pavement, back of my Arai (thanks, guys) helmet first.

I want to see how that latch system holds up under severe impacts. My concern is if the latch generates enough momentum can it open and release the helmet.

I want to see more testing.

While these are new in the US, they've been used in Australia and several other countries for several years now, and have proven to be reliable and safe. Been watching them since they were just released.

Got to wonder how many EMS would know how it works to take it off the right way.

It also looks like it would be very warm in the Summer.
