I had a young man working for me, for the last year or so before I retired, that had just transitioned from Active Army to Active Reserves. In the time I worked with him it became quite clear to me the U.S. Army of today is not much like the U.S. Army I knew.
No offence towards those serving, but I don't think I'd much care to be in today's Army. Or any branch of the U.S. military, near as I can tell.

Today it's all about classes and briefs about sexual harassment, EO, suicide prevention, etc. It's lots of politics now.

I've been trying to think of a way to express my thoughts on this topic. You nailed it.
My suggestion is to send her through airborne school and upon graduation, put her on the next C130 scheduled to overfly Syria and kick her ass out the back door. I'm quite sure that she'll find plenty of fellow muslims who will empathize with her there.

Equating those nutcases with all of Islam is about as fair as pointing to Westboro Baptist Church as representative of all Christians.

I respectfully disagree. A study of the Quran and a study of the life of Mohammed would indicate that the "radicals" are following the example of their founder very closely. Westboro Baptist members don't even come close to following the life and example of Jesus Christ. In other words, people like Bin Laden are hardcore Islamic followers. People like Mother Teresa are hardcore followers of Jesus Christ.

Following the exact letter of the law with any ancient religion just isn't done by any sane person. We interpret the text using our reason and then pick and choose.
Most Muslims are about as dogmatic as your average Episcopalian. Episcopalians aren't pushing for a new Crusade just like the average middle class Muslim isn't looking for Jihad.
Don't paint a billion and a half people with such a broad brush. There are some individuals in there.

nhtagmemberI learned everything I need to know about Islam and Muslims on 9/11 and NOTHING I have seen in the past 18 years has changed my opinion
I can't tell the difference between good and bad so I assume that given their 'religion' they're all bad
if thats 1.5 billion I really don't care - it might as well be 150,000
numbers are irrelevant
actions speak loudly - and I don't see them parading in the streets calling for an end of violence

flashguyChristianity is based on the teaching of Jesus Christ, and He authorized setting aside some of the Laws of Judaism (as the Son of God He could do that). Mother Theresa, as a good Christian, was following Jesus, who superceded Judaic Law.
IMO, until the Moslems have their own version of Jesus to come and modify/civilize what Mohammed wrote, their religion is anathema to civilization.

Neither did Jesus. In fact, he defied the Sabbath law to heal a man. You are referencing Old Testament law, not the new Covenant of Jesus Christ. That's an extraordinarily ignorant statement.
Regarding Islam, you are making feel good platitudes while showing as much knowledge about the life and example of Mohammed as you have about the life of Jesus Christ.
