SPEAKERS - multiple inputs
I have a 2 channel stereo system in my living room.
I just bought a 7.2 receiver for a TV that is also in the living room. I do not plan on listening to my audio formats through the 7.2 receiver. I will continue to use my 2 channel pre-amp and amplifier.
I would like to use the 2 floor standing speakers as part of the 7.2 system but also want them for my 2 channel system, I DO NOT want to degrade the sound of my 2 channel system.

What is a good way to use the speakers in both systems without degrading the sound on the 2 channel system.

If you have banana plugs on your amp and receiver just plug in as needed.
The problem without a switch (something I am not keen on) is that the amp section is the last part that connects to the speakers and you have different amps/systems.
Blending 2ch and surround systems has always been a challenge.

Why wouldn't an AB switch work??

OK at first I was looking for a speaker switch, but that wasn’t right.

This would work:

Amplifier switch selector

This allows multiple amplifiers to supply one set of speakers, switching from one amp to the other.

I ordered that switch.
THANKS!

If you want to avoid degrading the audio you'd probably be better off not passing the signal through a switch and just swapping cables out when you listen to 2 channel. Admittedly that would be a pain in the butt if done with any regularity though.

I keep coming back to this.
Spend a lot of money on good speaker wire and then run that signal through an additional switch.
Its hard to believe that any switch between the amp and the speaker would not distort the sound, But then I'm not a expert on this, so I ask questions and hope experts answer.
