What do you folks like for dry dog food?

sig229-SASWhat do you folks like for dry dog food?
As the title states, what do you like? We have two large breed dogs, a 2 y/o 80# doberman and a 15 month old standard poodle. Both have been on a dry food, Nutrisource dry for years, sadly the company that makes it has reduced the size of the bag from 30# to 25# but left the price the same.@#$%^&
I'm done with them but I need a good quality, grain free, dry food.
Let me know the brand(s) you like. Someone told me about Blue? Good?

jhe888It all tastes terrible to me.

RileyIt's all expensive and going up... The nice thing is we seem to be able to feed less with less yard mess etc.
Anyway, we feed Fromm and get it from the local pet food shop. About $2.50/lb. The stuff we feed is not grain free, but that's not an issue for our dogs.
We found most of the Blue foods had too much protein for our dogs and caused stomach issues.

a1abdjAlso not completely grain free, but Hi Pro Plus.
I was able to buy a 50 pound bag from the COOP for the same price as a 40 pound bag at Rural King, but the COOP is now gone.....

Rock didn’t do well with the other lamb n rice flavor.

PrefontaineThe trick to food is honestly the stool. You need to feed what provides solid stool.
Each purebred or mutt is going to be different. My GSD was different from my Mal. My Mal does well on Nutro but I have to feed a mix of 50% chicken and brown rice and 50% lamb and brown rice. Nutro is always my backup after trying to the fancier more expensive stuff.
And yeah the price is up across the board. I wouldn’t dump feed based on a price increase as it happens to every brand there is. My Nutro bags were 35#, now they’re 30#. Nothing I can do about it. If it gets under your skin, feed raw as it’s much healthier. Cheaper but way more time consuming. I’d need another freezer just to start.
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

WaterburyBobI've had good results with Royal Canin for my Pit.
Fed the previous one Nutro; that was good, too.
The bag sizes have decreased and the prices have gone up on all the brands.

220-9er4 Health at Tractor Supply or Kirkland Salmon & Potato.
Both are excellent quality and a great deal. Since I go through a lot, I order 2 large bags at TC so shipping’s free and the same at Costco.

AnushAcana Appalachian Ranch - High Protein. Expensive but less volume is required. My 35lb Beagle gets slightly more than 1 cup a day. My wife adds green beans, boiled chicken & sweet potatoe to the kibbles.

LBTRSWe've used Chewy American Journey for years. It's high quality and the pups do great on it. Price has went up recently.

That is the best selling flavor at the Hardware Store where I work part time.
We sell the big bags for $49.99 = $55.11 after tax.
