I was under the assumption if you pay JD Power enough, they will "find" an award your company can win. Doesn't discount successes, but discounts the value of the # of awards. The more awards simply means the more awards they've paid for JD Power to test for. | |||

Well, some have had problems with turbo/gasoline direct injection engines diluting the oil, and with the cylinder deactivation system on V6 engines, so … It just means they aren't perfect. But I'll take one over any Ford Egoboost. | |||

It’s tough to beat a CR-V. We’ve owned a few of them. I just don’t like the CVT transmissions in the new ones. As for durable, reliable transportation they are really great. They’re not exciting, but they’re as reliable as a hammer. Congratulations on the new car. My wife and I just bought a 2024 Subaru Outback Limited last Thursday, we got the extended warranty as well. We traded our 2018 Honda CR-V, unfortunately I think we got the only CR-V lemon so we had no confidence in Honda. I do like the looks of the new model. | |||

Mark, Nice choice on the Honda, personally I would have stuck with their standard V6 just to keep it simple. If you got the 4 cylinder, watch out! Think it was the timing chain and associated parts ($1,700), but at near 140k miles your mechanic will have to tear the front end of the engine apart. Our local mechanic believe this is a design error on Honda's part or the water thin oil used by the industry today. He sees many of them coming into his shop at the same mileage for the same repair. Not sure what model years and he could not say for sure. This was the one and only major repair we have ever had on a Honda is nearly 20 years of owning multiple. However, I would strongly recommend you consider and front push bar/brush guard and if you opted for a rear hitch a bar across the back as well. It may sound dumb, it if you are in a front or rear fender bender they are sacrificial parts to keep them out of your vehicle. My daughter was in an accident with hers, she rear ended a vehicle at a pretty good speed. It was enough force to permanently lock her seatbelt, but the airbags did not deploy. Body shop said she was lucky that just a little bit more speed and the CR-V would have been totaled out. Also, on your hood, consider having a stone guard installed to keep it from getting chipped. Both our Toyota Camry and my wife's Honda Odyssey look like the hoods have taken shotgun blasts. We purchased the same vehicle for my wife last year, Mark. Color & everything. Traded in a Ford Fusion she had before we met that was on its 5th or 6th recall. Glad to be rid of it. While not “intentionally” a Ford man, I guess I have become one. Bought a new 2015 F150 after my wife totaled the Kia Sportage and thankfully suffered only minor injuries even though she had to be extracted from vehicle by EMS folks. Decided I wanted some etching bigger for her to drive and always nice to have a truck available. In 2017 I was rear ended in my Kia Optima, not totaled but I was given a Mustang convertible as a loaner while it was in the shop. Wife always wanted a convertible and she suggested I get one. The day I picked the Optima up from the body shop I drove straight to the Ford dealer and it was traded in for a 2017 Mustang GT convertible. After 3 years driving the F150, my wife decided it was too big for her and we bought a 2018 Escape with the 2L ecoboost turbo. I guess that is when I became a “Ford guy” owning three of them. The Escape (same platform as the Bronco Sport) has been flawless for almost 40K miles now. With the F150 being a third car, I decided while a truck is nice, didn’t really need a full size and when Ford brought the Ranger back as a “mid size” truck, I traded the F150 for a 2019 Ranger. Four years and over 60K miles on the F150 no problems at all even with the new aluminum body panels and 2.7L V6 ecoboost twin turbo motor. Did have an episode of rodent damage, but hard to fault Ford for that. In 2020 Ford announced the return of the Bronco and I thought that was one sharp looking vehicle. In 2022 I came across a good deal on a new Bronco that was an abandoned order. Traded in the Mustang and Ranger for it on a 2 for 1 downsize deal. Bronco has had zero issues as well, also has the 2.7L V6 turbo that everyone loves to hate. When it comes time to buy my next vehicle I will certainly loo, to see what Ford has to offer. I am now officially a Ford man. Since 1984 I have bought 21 new cars/trucks. 8 of them have been Fords. That doesn't include the Mustang LX 5.0 convertible I ordered in 1989 but didn't buy due to the dealer goofing up the order. 2 of our 3 vehicles now are Fords. I was looking for a Porsche since at least 2015. Problem is I wanted a particular one with a manual transmission. Put a deposit down on a 911S in 2021 and finally gave up on that idea in 2023 (911S never came in) and got my deposit back. I had also been looking at Mustangs for that entire time. I guess I decided to be an American V8 man instead of a Porsche man as I ordered a Mustang GT convertible last Sep and picked it up that December. This one came in just as ordered (man trans big requirement) so I bought it. Knock on wood I've had mostly very good luck with my Fords, I certainly wouldn't rule them out if they have a model that meets your needs. The 2006 CRV with a manual transmission a very nice vehicle and both my kids got their initial driving experience in that. They both developed a love for manuals and both are driving manuals to this day. Son in a 2016 Mustang V6 and the daughter in a 2023 Mazda3. Don't think you can go wrong with that CRV, and that is a beautiful color! | |||

I've been keeping an eye on the Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks myself, and it's definitely appealing with its cool features and style. It sounds like it ticks a lot of boxes for your wife, which is great. When I was car shopping, I was torn between a few models but eventually decided on a Ford as well.
