Pentagon Spokesman, today: “We have Americans that get stranded in countries all the time”

Oh, if anyone didn't think that some would be left behind, they're as sharp as Droolin Joe.

"Leave no one behind except for those that aren't on the plane"

This junior varsity shitshow is going to come around and bite us on our ass in the near future, and for years to come.

There's reports that translatiors are getting their tongues cut out by the talbian. In the next few weeks, it's going to get down right mid evil over there. There's old scores that are going to get settled in a very brutal and vindictive fashion.
And it's going to be America's fault.

So WHEN (not "if") we have to go back there, who's going to trust us? Zero support from the locals, less than zero way to implement any "counterinsurgency" or "nation building", and less than zero on any local intelligence.

Afghanistan has rare earth minerals.
Therefore they have friends.

Sure some equipment will not be able to be repaired but rest assured they will not leave the $85 billion in military equipment go to waste.

You can’t put a silver coating on this turd.

Some of those with their tongues cut out will be digging those rare earth minerals out. CCP China has no problem using slave labor.

Thing is, Jim that there is nothing about flying a rotary wing a/c that is intuitive. I had one try-out lesson at vast expense, just to say that I'd done it, and I got out of that cockpit soaking wet from sweat and had to sit down for a few minutes to get collected [note the good chopper-y term, that].

One can only hope that these POS goat-lovers will kill themselves every time they take of. Landing is easy when it's a crash.

The Taliban are experts at destruction - not at any time in their existence have they ever been seen to produce, make, build, erect, construct or fabricate ANYTHING.

It's not like you can sit in a workshop somewhere and whittle a few Blackhawk spares out of old cart springs.

True, but they'll cut off those rocket launchers. Weld them on the back of one of the Hilux' we left.
Sell that shit to the first non-goatfucker that comes by with a pocket full of cash.

Yeah, they're not too adroit at actually fixing anything, but they'll modify the hell out of it until it suits their needs.

As badly as Biden pisses me off, it's nothing compared to the woke crazies on social media that defend his every action with all kinds of ludicrous crap. Everything from "its his sons watch and he looks to it for comfort" to "he actually had a rosary around his wrist you couldn't see and he's praying". Without them, Joe and the ho would be sad footnotes.

Where's the comet

If you ever feel useless, remember it took twenty years, thousands of lives, trillions of dollars and 4 US presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

WW2. We decimate Japan, we build American bases, stay in Japan to this day, and have a strong, independant, western aligned ally.

Korean War. We build American bases, stay in South Korea to this day, and have strong, independent, western aligned ally.

Afghanistan. We build American bases, stay in Afghanistan until 8/30/21. ISIS and the Taliban and Al Qaeda just waiting to reform and form terrorist camps. Mark my words; there will be significant terrorist attacks on the west in the coming years. I think it was in America, and the west, best interest, to keep a NATO mission in Afghanistan forever. We never should have closed Bagram. NATO should have kept enough troops and equipment there, and predator drones, to take out Afghanistan based terror groups, as needed, for as long as needed.

I am so fucking angry about the dogs… and not just that they were left to die in their kennels in an un-air conditioned hanger but because they so perfectly incapsulate the ineptitude of everyone involved in the fiasco, from some dipshit in Washington who thinks he is the President to the asshole in Kabul who decide that because the dogs weren’t on any manifest then they should be left. Just like every other poor decision over the past month (two years, two decades) no one stepped up and demonstrated enough initiative to do what needed to be done instead of following the script.

I am so angry about the waste, two decades and thousands of lives lost or ruined… these same idiots who tell us to trust them to manage our healthcare, our taxed income, our infrastructure, or our safety can’t even load service dogs onto a goddamned airplane. These morons can all screw off because they aren’t fit to manage a lemonade stand.

Quick update about the dogs.

Pentagon Clarifies Whether U.S. Military Dogs Were Left to Die in Afghanistan
Source: (AP Photo/Ed Andrieski)

The Pentagon is responding to reports the United States left behind a number of military working dogs at Hamid Karzai Airport in Kabul after abruptly leaving Afghanistan on Monday.

"To correct erroneous reports, the U.S. Military did not leave any dogs in cages at Hamid Karzai International Airport, including the reported military working dogs. Photos circulating online were animals under the care of the Kabul Small Animal Rescue, not dogs under our care," Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said Tuesday.

The Military Working Dog Team Support Association is backing the Pentagon's account.

On Monday evening the American Humane Society accused the U.S. government of leaving the dogs behind.

“I am devastated by reports that the American government is pulling out of Kabul and leaving behind brave U.S. military contract working dogs to be tortured and killed at the hand of our enemies. These brave dogs do the same dangerous, lifesaving work as our military working dogs, and deserved a far better fate than the one to which they have been condemned. This senseless fate is made all the more tragic, as American Humane stands ready to not only help transport these contract K-9 soldiers to U.S. soil but also to provide for their lifetime medical care," American Humane CEO Robin Ganzert released in a statement.

"American Humane has worked hand in hand with the military for more than 100 years to rescue military animals. In fact, our famed rescue program began on the bloody battlefields of WWI Europe, at the request of the U.S. Secretary of War. Since that time, American Humane served as a pioneer in the development of animal therapy for returning veterans, and today brings home retired military working dogs and pairs veterans with life-saving service dogs," she continued. "As the country’s first national humane organization and largest certifier of animal welfare in the world, it sickens us to sit idly by and watch these brave dogs who valiantly served our country be put to death or worse."

Next we are going to put the Taliban on the 'I hate America' foreign aid plan, where we send them millions in aid every year for them to use on weapons and actions against the United States. Brilliant plan.

The 'forever war' fallacy that's been tossed around in the news and Biden, fails to look at history and how things progress. As your examples pointed-out and as history has shown with empires, if your goal is to change a country and its culture, you need to be be there for the long-haul. IF, the plan was to stabilize and make Afghanistan a more 'modern' nation, then diplomats and generals needed to move there: your assignment is a 5-8 year hitch, you're moving your family to Kabul. Just like we did in Japan, Germany, South Korea, Italy, Philippines, our top diplomats and senior military leaders moved their whole families. Remember prior to WWII, MacArthur lived in the Philippines for over 5+ years, the US Navy's Asiatic fleet was in the same situation. For the British, if you were a senior member in foreign or military service, you and your family lived in Hong Kong, Macau, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Singapore, Malta, Zimbabwe, etc...

In this case, Biden still thought we had divisions and brigades all over Afghanistan, the reality was there was barely 2000-service members in-country, and there hadn't been a combat death in over 18+ months. A notional force of SOF units and technical contractors was holding the country together, while the ANA was able to keep the Taliban at arms length. The vast majority of news services had nobody in-country.
