I Am The Walrus |
There were (are?) some here in central FL who cover their rear plate partially with mud and run the booths. There was another instance where a van had a system set up where it retracted the plate so it couldn't be read. Florida is a one plate state so front cameras wouldn't do much good. _____________

It's like taxes. People are supposed to pay them. They try to get third party collection when they can, but the can't do that with everyone. The rest are "voluntary" with the threat of prosecution if you don't pay. Most people do pay. Bureaucratic laziness delays them from going after the scofflaws./

It might, or might not. I've dealt with a few of their 'tech' reps and all I can say is I'm not shocked at all they're having major system problems. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Update today. Finally... 4 arrested BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (WPVI) -- A group of four alleged toll scofflaws racked up $315,000 in unpaid bills to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and now face felony theft charges. Jarrett Stiff, Kelly Robinson, Christina Heller and Ayelet Farage are the first drivers to be prosecuted in Bucks County under a recent crackdown. They were all held for trial Thursday. Police said Stiff owes nearly $128,000 in unpaid tolls and fees after blowing through interchanges 2,264 times and ignoring more than 4500 collection notices. Turnpike authorities said Neshaminy and Bensalem are two of the top three worst interchanges for toll violations. ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

I went to my gunsmith’s place not long ago. On the way back I was hauling the mail on one of our tollways. A guy on a bike was keeping pace with me. He is one lane over. Approaching the booth, he reaches down, and manually flips up his license plate. Dumb. They ended up getting you one way or the other. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

For real? |
I just got a bill for $4.33 from NC for tolls. It said I could’ve saved $1.50 if I had their gadget. I was there in June and the toll was for 15 mins on whatever freeway. I sent them a check. I’m still waiting for my bill from Ontario for a trip a few years back. Not minority enough!

It's not you, it's me. |
I've done that by accident before. First time, I received the wonderful letter with my car's photo. $1.50 for the toll and $40 for the "administrative fee". The second time it happened, it was going to AC...blew through the EZ-Pass. Shit! Now what? I drove all the way to Atlantic City the next morning and told the toll taker. I gave the toll taker money that I owed from the previous night. Somehow, which still puzzles me, I didn't get a letter in the mail. I didn't give the toll taker my info or anything. It just was paid and registered in the system somehow.

Our daughter and her family live just north of Colorado Springs in Monument. In the time since moving there with her job, the traffic between Castle Rock and The Springs has gotten much worse. There’s a choke point just S of Castle Rock where I-25 necks down from 3 lanes to two and if traffic is heavy at all, it can be a real horror show. Recently heard that CDOT is on it though. Instead of just widening the freeway, the plan is to add an “Express Lane.” You’ll be able to avoid the traffic jam, but you’ll have to pay to do so. As luck would have it, my daughter was promoted and they’re moving to the N Denver burbs; much better for my wife and I. _______________________________________________________ despite them
