I mainly wear Maui Jim in bright sun, and Serengeti Drivers in cloudy conditions. It is surprising how dim of light and in fog the Serengeti Drivers are better than no sunglasses.

pedropcolaTo all you naysayers, Serengetis are absolutely the best glasses I’ve ever worn as an aviator. It’s a tough environment for sunglasses. They are equally adept at driving and casual uses. The drivers gradient is amazing in vehicles airborne or otherwise. If you aren’t familiar they are darker up high on the lens, ie outside, and less so lower so that you can read your instrument panel.
Are they worth the cost? That’s up to you. Are they markedly better than Goodrs or similar? Without a doubt. If you tend to lose or destroy glasses then expensive glasses won’t be your thing. If you aren’t, Serengetis are easily the best in my opinion. (Don’t do polarized for flying)

tigereye313I like my Randolph aviators. Had Hoya RX lenses put in. I like that they are still made in USA.

This isn’t here nor there, but my holy Grails were Serengetis. They were always just out of my reach - either by my enlisted pay or later, my tight-fisted wife. At 62, I may splurge for a pair to see what I’ve been missing.
