Who is the oldest forum member?
Pipe Smoker's Birthday made me wonder, who IS the oldest member on the forum. This may have been talked about before, but can we find out?

I'm "down there" at 62....63 next month. Where are you in the scheme of things?

As best as I can recollect, I think I just turned 70.

I’m not even 40 yet but I cherish the wisdom of our forum members who have lived longer than myself and whose life lessons are invaluable. The “ok boomer” mentality that prevailed on (anti)social media before I pulled the plug on that mess disgusted me to no end.

The forum that Parabellum has painstakingly created has had a tremendous positive impact on my life in such a way it is almost impossible to articulate.

Thank you Para for the greatness that is this fine forum.

Certainly not me, I'm 64 and can't imagine 80! Too many years in the plumbing business have destroyed my body, I hurt every damn day.

There is a man who was in WW2 and as a young man he marched with Civil War Veterans. I can't recall his name but his CUT is, I think, Old Utah Ski Bum. He is somewhere in his 90's, I believe.

EDIT: Found him, his screen name is HJrocket. He posted on January 13 2021 that he just got his shot at the age of 94. He posted most recently about 3 weeks ago, so YEA for him!

He's a WW2 Veteran. Is he the only one here, or do we have any other WW2 Veterans?

Thank you for your service, Sir.

Yeah, no doubt this gentleman is the oldest on here. He last posted a year or two ago, IIRC.

Several years ago I sold a gun to a forum member who is a WW II veteran. I didn't ask his age, but we can all do the math. This was a different member than the one who marched with Civil War veterans.

Haven't seen him post in several years now and haven't heard from him, so I'm concerned we may have lost him.

On a slight thread drift, he is not a forum member, but one of my first flight instructors, and a man who greatly guided and influenced me when I was a young man, is a WW II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy, and he turned 96 yesterday...and still lives with his 97 year old girlfriend.

Happy Birthday Charlie! Smile

Not the oldest, but I guess I'll be near the top. I turned 86 in June and am still very active. Had surgery last year and it was the first time I had been in the hospital since 1938 when I was 3 years old and had my tonsils removed. I thank the good Lord and my mom for her genes, she lived to almost 96.

Our test engineer (and a man I respect greatly) told us a couple of weeks ago about a doc visit he had recently. In the course of the discussion, doc said something to the effect of, "well, since you're 74 now..."

TK said, "No, I'm only 73."

Doc scoured the record a bit and pointed to a date. "Going by this, you're 74."

TK, laughingly: "Crap! What happened?! I want that year back!"
