A Congressperson has to maintain residences and offices in both DC and his/her state/district, travel back and forth between them, and pay help where applicable. Is this paid out of pocket, or as an expense account on top of the salary?

Perhaps the pay is in effect a term limit. They should consider their term as service to their country and not build a comfortable nest as royalty. Serve the term and move on to whatever it is that will pay that higher salary they deserve.

I was taught a long time ago that the founding fathers never intended for Congressional service to be a full-time occupation.



Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.
