"Governor, what did you think when you saw that photo of yourself in your yearbook 35 years ago?"
Awww, I was hoping for a minute there that he would moon walk.

No wonder defense attorneys tell their clients to keep their mouth shut.
2:45 p.m.: With his wife Pam at his side, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam on Saturday afternoon said he believes he was neither of the people in the racist photo that surfaced Friday from a 1984 yearbook from Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Northam said he saw the photo, now more than 30 years old, for the first time Friday. After admitting it was him in the photo and apologizing Friday night, Northam said after reflection with his family and talking to former classmates, he now believes it was not him in the photo.
Northam did, however, acknowledge he once darkened his face while wearing a Michael Jackson costume at a dance content in 1984 in San Antonio, Texas, while he was in the military after his graduation from medical school.
He said his memory of that is vivid, and that’s why he doesn’t think he is in the yearbook photo.
“I have made my mistakes in the past,” Northam said.
Northam says resigning would be an easy path but he took an oath to serve to the best of his ability and believes he can continue. He says this moment can be a small step to a discussion.
Northam says he knows people will not immediately believe his account of events but wants an opportunity to show that the person he was is not the man he is today.
“I am far from perfect and I can always strive to do more,” he said.
Northam said he submitted three of the four photos in the yearbook, but does not know where the photo of a man in blackface and one in KKK garb came from.
"I'm telling the truth today," he said, "that was not my picture."
"I was not in that picture," he said, "... either as blackface or KKK."
(This is breaking news. This story will be updated.)
1:21 p.m.: Northam spokeswoman Ofirah Yheskel said the governor is not resigning.
A Democratic source with direct knowledge of Northam’s conversations with lawmakers on Saturday, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Northam told lawmakers on Friday evening that he did not remember being in the photo. On Saturday he told them that after speaking with friends from medical school he doesn’t think it’s him in the photo.
The source said that leaves significant questions about why he issued a public statement Friday saying that the photo was of him and apologized for it, and Democrats will be watching to see if he addresses those questions in his 2:30 p.m. statement.

Yes he did. He said he didn't darken his whole face cause anyone who has put shoe polish on their face can tell you how hard it is to get off.Smirk nervous laugh.

Yes, right after he said that he “vividly does not remember being in the photograph”
And, “he’s going to have facial recognition technology look at the picture to prove it is not him”
This has to be one of the most cringe-worthy performances ever. Please, please, please don’t resign. This snowball is just starting to roll, and it is sitting somewhere above the Hillary Step on Everest. There is a long way yet to fall.

Can't wait for the full transcript to come out. Comedy gold. He had to ask his wife 'that singer's name - oh yeah, Michael Jackson' and how a 'black friend' had to explain to him later that it was offensive. Oh, but he won the dance contest, so it was all worth it!

So far six more "reach outs". I should have been counting "horrific" too. This is the mark of a coached man who under pressure repeats like a parrot the key words they told him in preparation.

Somebody needs to “reach out” with a crook and pull him off that press conference stage, maybe somebody could “call him” and tell him his performance is “horrific”.
Oh holy shit. He “checked with a person of color, who explained to him why the photo was offensive”. He could not figure that out for himself?
Hope they are serving fried chicken and watermelon at the conclusion of the press conference. In solidarity.

If you can manage it, watch the whole thing. I'm fortunate... I already loathe the insidious liar.
It will serve as teaching material in "Public Communications by Elected Officials 101" as THE example of why you never let them out on their own.
